Meet the medical student who wants to bring down Dr. Oz
Organized medicine has an interest in protecting physicians as a profession. They want to maintain the prestige, trust, and income that physicians have historically received in the US. In order to protect the profession as a whole, organized medicine sometimes has to protect individual doctors, even if they are not acting in the best interest of patients. The AMA may fear that undermining Dr. Oz could undermine overall trust in doctors.

FDXtreme get ripped (Athlete)
I never wanted to be a professional yo-yo dieter, that's why I always refused to have off seasons body composition wise. In my world it's embarrassing if you look like a totally different person in real life compared to your photos or competition pics. If you need to spend half a year at leaning out all the flab just to do a show or two or a photo shoot or two, because your appetite is too big or your discipline to weak, is it really worth it? Looking great two days a year and then be soft and mushy. For me it never was anyway.
I'm not talking about having a few healthy pounds to shed for an event, I'm referring to all those who get FAT, yeah FAT when the show time is over. The ladies get double butt size and with that follows stretch marks which don't look great on stage. It's manageable
The Case for the End of The Modern Zoo
A couple of years ago, the essayist David Samuels published a long piece in Harper's on the Bronx Zoo. It got attention mostly for a discovery Samuels made, in the archives, that the leading figure in the early history of the Bronx Zoo was a eugenicist propagandist named Madison Grant who corresponded with Hitler, and saw his work at the Zoo in the same vein, as rescuing the perfect form of a species before it declined. (Grant once exhibited a human pygmy named Ota Benga at the Zoo; crowds of 40,000 greeted Ota Benga by jeering and poking him; eventually, he committed suicide.) The Grant story caught on in part because it highlighted what is anachronistic about zoos. For a very long post-Enlightenment period, human beings asked themselves what made them different from the apes, and fixed on logic and reason as the highest human characteristics; zoos were a way to engage that question while emphasizing that there was a great distinction indeed. Now we understand that animal cognition and social behavior is for many species pretty sophisticated, and there is a new form of intelligence to define ourselves against: Not what makes us different than a chimpanzee, but what makes us different than Siri? Perhaps this is pushing us toward a closer identification with the animals and helping to shape some of the discomfort with zoos.

“Casa Futebol” Proposes a Different Olympic Legacy For Brazil’s Stadiums
So it’s the same shipping containers inserted to every stadium? The adaptive re-use of the stadiums would be a great design exercise, but to assume that only housing can go into these things is too simple of a solution. Breaking down something as massive as a stadium to the pedestrian scale takes a lot more than the insertion of modern, rounded cubes as shelter. There are a million other program opportunities for the re-use of these stadiums, and its unfortunate those possibilities were not explored. A stadium is the size of a city block, and the design of this should be considered at the urban scale, not at the scale of housing alone.
Tweets of the Day: Jacob Volkmann slams WSOF, gets released

Stefan Struve '100 percent, definitely wants to fight,' according to manager
"He had essentially what boiled down to a panic attack," McMahon said. "It manifested itself physically, he had a fainting episode backstage before his fight occurred. I don't think he took full account of the emotions to step into the Octagon. I think he had some lingering questions about where health was even though he'd been cleared by specialist. All those things came together in a perfect storm and unfortunately it created a tremendous amount of anxiety, and it caused him to faint. ... Stefan has already seen several doctors, the doctors have reiterated there is nothing physically wrong with him, it was more the psychological response which created the physical manifestation of him fainting."

WSOF 12 set for Aug. 9 in Las Vegas, including Gonzalez-Palomino, Markes-Tiller
Markes will make his WSOF debut after going 3-2 in the UFC. He started his UFC run with three straight decision wins, but in November, he was stopped by Yoel Romero with a third-round knockout, and in March, Thiago Santos knocked him out in 53 seconds at UFC Fight Night 39. That loss came after Markes badly missed weight. Still, he was a heavy favorite in the fight. After the weight-cut infraction at middleweight, Markes returns to light heavyweight to meet Tiller.
Mark ‘Fightshark’ Miller’s body of work is like no other
Even from the dark booth at El Compadre on Sunset Boulevard you can see Mark Miller’s right eye is bloodshot. The day before, he was wearing a patch over that eye, and he tweeted out that image with his hands curled into a hook, playfully, like a pirate. The day before that he had surgery on that eye, to fix burst blood vessels that blinded him. This was brought on by high blood pressure, which goes back to his acute renal failure, which became chronic, irreversible renal failure after a series of follies at a county hospital. Mark Miller’s life can be described as extraordinary. The trail from the here and now going backwards to where he began is harrowing. That he smiles as he tells you that they’re "trying to turn me into Frankenstein," is enough to give you goose bumps. He needs a new pancreas, and he’s awaiting one with Dr. Donald Dafoe, actor Willem’s older brother, the foremost pancreatic transplant surgeon going. He needs a new kidney, too, and pronto. Because his story is remarkable, and because he’s become a symbol of perseverance in the fight game for keeping his chin high through every dour forecast, he has no less than 15 willing live donors offering up their kidneys.
How and Why to Run Hill Sprint Intervals
Choosing time or distance will give you an endless array of variety in this case and can make for many more challenges. The walk down the hill is your recovery period and your time will vary due to fatigue, but make a conscious effort to make your way back down quickly, turn, establish your proper sprint position, then sprint the hill again. Turn and do another rep until all reps are completed. In this manner, you will get more rest due to the walk back but that will simply enable you to go at the hill harder so when it’s all said and done, the difference in the benefits will be nominal.

Robin van Roosmalen on GLORY title shot, crossover fights in Bellator
Hard-hitting GLORY lightweight contender Robin van Roosmalen has been told he is likely the next in line for a title shot at 155lbs. He holds two wins over current champion Davit Kiria but doesn’t see that as any guarantee of another victory. In addition to the title shot news, Van Roosmalen is also excited about a rumor that GLORY and Bellator might do some crossover matches now that Scott Coker has taken over at Bellator.

Floyd Mayweather: Facing Marcos Maidana is Like Battling an MMA Fighter
Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Marcos Maidana will do it again. | Ed
NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Floyd Mayweather’s antennas are up. He won’t
admit it. He never does. This time, however, it appears he did --
in a sense.
He heard the calls for a rematch -- and much to his credit, he’s
giving the boxing public what it wants: a rematch against Marcos
Maidana on Sept. 13 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
On Monday, before a media throng and a hoard of fans, Mayweather
and Maidana launched their media blitz with a press conference at
the Marriott Marquis in Times Square.
Maidana may have come the closest to beating Mayweather since Oscar
De La Hoya lost a split decision to “Money” in May 2007; he
certainly rattled the 37-year-old WBC and WBA welterweight world
champion in their May 3 fight -- enough so that Mayweather was
willing to listen to the clamor for a rematch.
Mayweather won by majority decision, according to judges Dave
Moretti (116-112) and Burt A. Clements (117-111). But judge Michael
Pernick had it a 114-114 draw, which many also viewed the fight as,
after Maidana forced Mayweather into a number of uncomfortable
situations through the first six rounds.

Thoughts on BJ Penn's retirement following his loss to Frankie Edgar
After he became the lightweight champion, Penn still clearly wanted another crack at GSP at 170. The now-welterweight champ had outpointed Penn over the last two rounds, but Penn had hurt him on the feet and broken his nose. In the rematch St-Pierre, who was younger, bigger, stronger, and more disciplined, came in with a perfect gameplan, wearing Penn out and crushing him on the ground. The final indignity came when BJ, who had mocked St-Pierre as a "quitter" prior to their showdown, was forced to retire on his stool at the end of the fourth. It was the kind of beating which many men would not have recovered from, mentally as well as physically. Yet when Penn returned to lightweight he put on career-high performances, dominating Diego "The Nightmare" Sanchez and Kenny Florian .

There's hard feelings still about what they [said] on Twitter, because they were wrong. … I just think if you're a fighter, you don't see me showing my butt in that f***ing way. I don’t think that's the right way. You can do photos, you can show your body. Studio contract may prevent Gina Carano's debut in the UFC
But now, with a new kid on the block, in Ronda Rousey , and one badly in need of new name opponents, Gina Carano has been teased for a potential MMA return and UFC debut. What seemed to start as little more than publicity building for her latest film project has turned into a seemingly reasonable expectation that fans will soon be seeing Carano in the octagon, potentially in a major PPV headliner. The sport needs her and the interest is there. Unfortunately, her aforementioned film career may not allow it. Jeremy Botter reported the news on twitter, that Carano's movie deal has become a potential roadblock to her UFC signing.
