UFC Fight Night 45 results: Gleison Tibau edges Pat Healy for UFC win No. 14
Although it will go down as yet another loss in the UFC for Healy, the fight was not without its bright spots. He adjusted well to Tibau’s ground game late in the fight, and he finally managed to turn forward pressure into effective offense by the third round. Unfortunately for him, Tibau was likely already up two rounds to none by that point, and Healy’s late rally wasn’t enough to swing the judges his way.
The Finisher - Cerrone Stops Miller for Fourth Straight
ATLANTIC CITY, NJ, July 16 – Donald Cerrone loves to fight. In fact, he loves it so much that even after apparently stopping Jim Miller in the second round of their UFC Fight Night main event Wednesday at the Revel Casino Hotel, he was willing to do it again. And he did, handing Miller the first knockout loss of his career later in that same round. The victory was Cerrone’s fourth straight, with each victory coming by way of knockout or submission. Miller looked to have the upper hand early, as his left hand found the mark several times in the opening stages of the fight, getting Cerrone’s attention and sending “Cowboy” to the mat 90 seconds in. Cerrone bounced back to his feet quickly, but Miller continued to have success with his precision strikes and his grappling. Cerrone did finish the round strong though, with his kicks to the body forcing Miller to slow his pace down until the horn. In the second, Cerrone’s body attack appeared to finish the fight when he landed with a front kick to the midsection that dropped Miller to the mat. Referee Dan Miragliotta intervened, presumably to inspect the New Jersey native for a low blow, but even Miller said the shot was legal.

"There's no reason for girls who have never met, have never had a conversation with me or not even in my weight class, and girls a lot of them go out of their way to talk about me and a lot of it has to stem from jealousy. A lot of girls don't understand and think 'oh why does she have that or she doesn't deserve that' but in all reality they don't know me and they don't know my story. I know who I am as a person. My hands are clean of that. I'm used to it by now."

When possible, we added up the grand totals of the fighters’ pay-bumps, though the amounts of these bonuses weren’t consistently reported before UFC 70 .

UFC Fight Night 45 Results: Winners and losers
John Lineker: Half a pound off the championship limit, improved takedown defence and carrying his power into the home stretch, there are many reasons this was an impressive performance by the Brazilian warmonger. Lineker is short on technique, but his want to load up on bombs and press forward means he'll always be exciting. By beating Ozkilic, Lineker hasn't pushed himself right into the title picture, but has shown he can learn from his mistakes whilst still delivering on balls-to-the-wall violence. With the little damage he seemed to take, he'll probably be ruing the UFC's decision to give Chris Cariaso the next shot at Demetrious Johnson , but if Lineker can prove he can make weight in his next fight and pick up a win he'll be a shoo-in for a title shot before long.
Nurmagomedov? Diaz? Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone says giddy-up to all comers
ATLANTIC CITY – There was a moment in time when UFC president Dana White said that nobody wanted to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov . That was before Nurmy was booked into a fight with Benson Henderson (or at least so Henderson thought; turns out it was Rustam Khabilov ) and Rafael dos Anjos showed up as just such a particular nobody in April to face the Dagestan bear wrestler. And it was certainly before White checked with Donald Cerrone , the man who keeps reminding us that he’ll fight anybody, anytime -- whether it’s "Nate, Khabib, anybody" -- and actually means it. At this point, it’s hard not to like "Cowboy" Cerrone, the Budweiser-guzzling fun dude who is always fighting some colossus or other between some adventure or other. The adventures he hitches to his fights are always something like rock climbing, or wakeboarding on Lake Powell, or riding mechanical bulls, rappelling, RVing in Clear Creek, passing the ladle around the campfire with Leonard Garcia or getting rowdy on his "Fight Ranch" outside Albuquerque with the tumbleweeds. Sometimes his adventure involves the taxman, who is one of his supreme motivators.
Sherdog’s Top 10: Strongest Kickers - Top 10
The key to becoming a successful mixed martial artist is being
well-versed in all aspects of the game when the cage door closes.
While there are exceptions to the rule, those fighters who rely too
heavily on one facet of their arsenal can only achieve average
levels of success.
If a fighter is going to lean solely on one dimension of the game,
it helps if the discipline has the potential to result in winning
the fight suddenly or battering an opponent so badly that he or she
can no longer continue. There is no better example of this than a
perfectly timed head kick or a smattering of shin-to-thigh shots to
the lead leg of a competitor over the course of a fight.
In honor of the start of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, which takes place
in the MMA hub of Brazil, a Sherdog.com panel has compiled a list
of the most ferocious kickers in the history of mixed martial arts.
Many narrowly missed inclusion, and of course, the choices are open

Eddie Bravo has laid relatively low since competing against

The enthralling rematch of the Abu Dhabi Combat Club grappling

that came out following the event that really caught the combat
sports world’s attention.
After the bout, the 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu creator appeared to be at
odds with Metamoris founder Ralek

comments after the fact and claimed that the event founder would

Matter of Survival
Alex White has finished seven opponents.
White is lucky to be alive.
Before he ever stepped foot in an MMA gym, he fought for his life
after accidentally ingesting gasoline at the age of 4.
“I was on a vacation to Walt Disney World, and on the way there, I

to pull over and was working on the engine.”
While playing tag with his brothers, he became thirsty and began to

his father had poured gasoline into the container in its place.

Twitter Mailbag: Donald Cerrone's win, Conor McGregor's hubris, Holly Holm's options
That’s one of the reasons I’m not terribly interested in it. That, and the fact that I think it’ll be about as competitive as a squirrel wandering out in front of a Chevy. It’s been almost five years since Carano last fought. The game done changed since then, especially on the women’s side, and it’s not like Carano’s been putting in the work inside serious fight gyms in order to change with it. This is a cash grab, both for Carano and for the UFC. It would also probably a pretty sweet deal for Rousey, too. The only ones who get short-changed are the fans who buy it thinking it’ll be anything other than a dominant champion beating up an actress who used to fight, once upon a time.

Opinion: Cracking the Japan Code
Are America’s two most imperialistic fight promoters, the
Ultimate Fighting Championship and World Wrestling Entertainment ,
about to finally make a major dent in the Japanese marketplace?
WWE CEO Vince McMahon has always had visions of sugar plums dancing
in his head when it comes to his company taking over the Japanese
landscape. He worked with two different Japanese promotions on
three Tokyo Dome events in 1990 and 1991. Eventually, McMahon
renewed his efforts to conquer Japan in 2003 by running shows at
Yokohama Arena. More than a decade later, McMahon is staging annual
events in Japan and now has signed one of the country’s top
professional wrestlers: Kenta Kobayashi. According to Wrestling
Observer Newsletter Editor Dave Meltzer, the WWE hopes KENTA can
become a player for the company so it can sell a lot of
subscriptions to its online WWE Network platform.
UFC President Dana White, meanwhile, continues to work with
Japanese ad agency Dentsu on running annual fighting events at
Saitama Super Arena. There will be a UFC Fight Night event on Sept.
In other Fight Night 45 medical news, Jim Miller caught an indefinite suspension pending an x-ray on his right forearm and stomach following his loss to Cowboy Cerrone. Joe Proctor, on the other hand, got off easy with a 30 day suspension despite the fact that he apparently had a golf ball lodged into the side of his cranium midway through his eventual TKO win over Justin Salas.

Earlier this month, she stopped Alexis Davis in 16 seconds with a throw and flurry of punches to notch her fourth UFC title defense.
Joe Silva's Shoes: What's next for UFC Fight Night 45's winners?
Should fight: Khabib Nurmagomedov
Why they should fight: If it wasn’t for the celebration of Ramadan, Khabib Nurmagomedov (22-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC) likely would have served in the main event of Wednesday’s card against either Cerrone or Miller. That didn’t work out, but now that Cerrone defeated Miller, he sits firmly “in the mix” of title contenders at 155 pounds alongside Nurmagomedov.
