After finding himself stuck on the bottom after going for a leg lock against Randy Brown early in the second round of their UFC Fight Night 133 bout, Price (12-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) looked up and saw his opponent’s head hanging there within arm’s reach. And while a lot of fighters might figure that strikes from their back are a waste of time, Price figured he might as well give it a try (via Twitter ).

Frustrated UFC champ Cris Cyborg says Amanda Nunes could be final opponent
“It’s the same as someone arriving at your house, knocking at your door and asking you to throw down, and then they say, ‘Wait, I need one year to prepare,’” Cyborg said. “When you do that, you have to be ready for when the fight happens. But then to need six months to prepare, one year? I think it’s disrespectful toward me, to wait one year for a person to be ready. I have no problem with fighting Amanda on Dec. 29. She wants time to be ready. But I believe I could fight before that, not wait all this time. Especially because we get paid when we fight. …

Five Lessons Learned from UFC Fight Night 133
Let’s just say,
UFC Fight Night 133 was not the star event of the sports
week.
France won its second World Cup, managed and coached by the man who
captained them to their first in 1998. Novak Djokovic defeated
rival Rafael Nadal in extra sets in a two-day classic at Wimbledon.
Angelique Kerber upset Serena Williams, preventing the greatest
woman to ever pick up a tennis racket from winning her 24th major.
With the win, Kerber moved one Roland Garros two-week slough away
from winning a career slam and quietly being one of the most
accomplished women ever in tennis. Also, many men dunked on one
another during the NBA Summer League.
Did you hear that Junior dos
Santos beat the guy who once beat Fedor
Emelianenko in a sambo match? Yes, I may be glib, but UFC Fight
Night 133 was not without its merits. More importantly, if you’re a
fight fan, it’s not necessarily about every card being Pride 10 or
UFC 100. Somewhere in these seven-hour cards, there’s always
something to keep your eye on, something to take away, something to
learn from.

Let's dissect this photo of Daniel Cormier's impressive belt collection
As a rundown (top to bottom, left to right), Cormier’s collection includes the KOTC heavyweight title (submission win over Tony Johnson in 2010), XMMA heavyweight title (TKO win over Lucas Browne in 2010), Strikeforce heavyweight grand prix title (decision win over Josh Barnett in 2012) and a vacant UFC light-heavyweight title (submission win over Anthony Johnson in 2015). The title defenses have since come over Alexander Gustafsson (split decision in 2015), Johnson (submission in 2017) and Volkan Oezdemir (TKO in January), and he also retained a belt after a KO loss in 2017 was overturned when opponent Jon Jones failed a drug test. Cormier then added the heavyweight belt (TKO) to the collection this past weekend with his win over Miocic.

Alexander Volkanovski Battled Through Injured Rib to Defeat Darren Elkins at UFC Boise
A post shared by Alexander "The Great"

Alexander
Volkanovski managed to avoid the trademark Darren
Elkins rally at
UFC Fight Night 133 , and he did so while competing at less than
100 percent.
The Australian prospect improved to 5-0 in the Las Vegas-based
promotion, as he dropped Elkins twice, bloodied his opponent and
held an for a unanimous decision triumph at the CenturyLink Arena
in Boise, Idaho, on Saturday night. Volkanovski halted a six-bout
winning streak for Elkins, who had made a habit of rallying from
dire predicaments in some of his previous victories.
“I wanted the finish but I had some setbacks along the way,”
Volkanovski said. “I injured my rib on Wednesday and that really
forced me to be more patient and wait for things to come to me.
He’s a very tough guy. I hit him with all I could in the moment
but, as I said, my rib was giving me a lot of problems so that
affected the fight.”

Fight Facts: Contender Series Season 2 Midseason Review
Fight Facts is a breakdown of all the interesting information
and Octagon oddities on every card, with some puns, references and
portmanteaus to keep things fun. These deep stat dives delve into
the numbers, providing historical context and telling the stories
behind those numbers.
* * *
After the first 4 events of the second season of
Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series , the promotion
proved that is the real future of finding prospects for the
Ultimate Fighting Championship . In these four events, the
Contender Series featured a 16-fight stoppage streak, a knockout
the likes of which we had never even seen by a heavyweight inside
the UFC and the biggest upset in the show’s short but memorable
history.
FINISH HIM (or her): Through 20 fights in four
Contender Series events this season, fighters have finished 17 of
them for a finish rate of 85%. That finish rate is higher than any
Zuffa-owned organization, Bellator, Invicta FC, or WSOF-PFL.
Well, I’m a Professional - I’m Serious and I’m a
Professional: Every single fighter has made weight for
their bouts on the Contender Series.

I definitely agree that the longest-reigning champion in the history of the division should get a rematch. How does Cody Garbrant, who had no title defenses, get an immedaite rematch but Stipe doesn't? That doesn't make much sense to me.
