White says Gina Carano deal near – and she'll likely fight Ronda Rousey in December
White defended the idea of giving Carano (7-1) a title shot in her first fight in five years, saying the onetime “face of women’s MMA” has continued to train throughout her hiatus, albeit not at the level as her active career, and wants badly to fight Rousey (10-0 MMA, 4-0 UFC).

“That fight was done,” he said. “(UFC matchmaker) Joe Silva sent the email out, and 20 minutes later, (Nurmagomedov) went into the gym and blew his knee out. Twenty minutes. So that fight’s off.”

Meet Catey Shaw: The Rebecca Black of Brooklyn Gentrification | NOISEY
Well, that does it. Brooklyn is officially dead. It pains me to say this since the borough holds such a dear place in my heart. My grandparents met, fell in love, and settled in Brooklyn after World War II. My parents pushed their genitals together and created me in Brooklyn. But over the last few years, a lot of things have pushed Brooklyn close to the edge of being a festering shithole of pretentiousness and trust funds—Lena Dunham and her insufferably self-centered HBO show, Bushwick loft parties, multi-million dollar Williamsburg high rise condos, tourist walking tours, and the seemingly unending proliferation of vintage fedora shops. (Seriously, how many fucking hats do we need?) But here to put the last nail in the coffin is Virginia Beach-turned-Brooklyn-subway-ukulele-player (because OF FUCKING COURSE) Catey Shaw with her new song “Brooklyn Girls.”

UFC 177: Dillashaw vs. Barao 2 fight card
UFC 177 tickets go on sale tomorrow, and the meat of the PPV main card has already been figured out. Bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw , who was given little chance to beat Renan Barao at UFC 173 , destroyed Barao in one of the biggest upsets in UFC history. Barao was knocked out in the 5th round after being dropped in the first and wobbly throughout the fight, so of course the logical thing to do is "Let's do that again". While Barao's team wanted a rematch in Brazil, the UFC was having none of that nonsense and placed this show in Sacramento, where Dillashaw trains out of Team Alpha Male. It's an immediate rematch in the main event, plus a flyweight title fight co-main between Demetrious Johnson and surprise selection Chris Cariaso.
Fighter Diet News
Fighter Diet News, by Pauline Nordin: Get Buff, Get Lean
If you watch me roll I do what I call “keepitplayful.” I might work for the dominant position but as soon or before it is established I allow myself to get into an inferior position. I also allow my training partner to go for a submission and depending on how I feel I either attempt to defend the submission early, at the half way point or late. I risk being stuck in an inferior position or getting tapped out. I’m okay with this because the information that I collect from experiencing jiu-jitsu this way is different. Due to the KeepItPlayful approach I am less concerned with “winning” and instead looking to create / allow movement while observing my partners jiu-jitsu and therefore creating a greater understanding. If you allow yourself to spend time in all positions you build comfort in all positions, and if you do this, you win.

Gunnar Nelson Happy with Training Camp Setup, Not Planning Move to U.S.
Gunnar Nelson is happy with his current training arrangement. |
UFC Fight Night Dublin event will be “a statement” for the
strength of the SBG Ireland and Mjolnir Iceland gyms, Haraldur

The two teams share a close bond. In June, some of the Dublin crew

“All in all, we had about twenty guys -- maybe some of them stayed

The Dangers of Energy Drinks | The Dolce Diet
This post was inspired by a very tragic story I saw on Facebook this morning. A young, teenage girl died while on vacation with her family in Mexico just hours after consuming multiple energy drinks. She consumed 2-3 energy drinks on the beach, already dehydrated from the heat of the day. And she isn’t the only case. There have been 18 energy-drink deaths in the last 4 years in teens. Unfortunately, there is little to no regulation on energy drinks, but more and more studies are finding that popular energy drinks increase heart contractions, as was the case with this young teen.
Barnburner Alert: Donald Cerrone vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov Reportedly Booked for UFC 178 in September [UPDATE: GOD DAMN IT]

Brooks lived in Chicago with his mom, sister and brother. He'd seen fighting in the movies like every other kid, but this was the first time he'd ever seen a real, live fight. Alexander Gustafsson to Conduct Entire Camp for UFC 178 at Alliance MMA
Alexander Gustafsson has not split from Alliance MMA. | Anton
Gustafsson will be training at Alliance MMA for his
light-heavyweight title rematch with champion Jon Jones at
UFC 178 .
Andreas Michael, head coach to the Swedish contender, told
Sherdog.com Friday that he and Gustafsson will soon relocate to San
Diego, Calif., to begin their camp for the title tilt.
“All that talk last year was just talk. There was no split,” says
Michael. “Alliance MMA is one of the world’s top training centers.
It’s a great place to prepare for a fight like this. We were happy
with how the training camp for Jimi Manuwa
went -- that one we did all in Sweden. We’ve just decided to do
this one at Alliance.”
Gustafsson faced Jones at UFC 165 in September last year and gave
the champion his hardest title defense to date, taking him the
distance before losing a close decision.
The result caused controversy, and initially the
UFC wanted to stage an immediate rematch. Instead, Jones faced
Teixeira , while Gustafsson stayed busy with the fight against
Manuwa in March.
Johny Hendricks targeting December or January return to the UFC
"That's probably what tore my bicep and that's why I went into the fight with a fractured leg. I went in there with two injured weapons and that's the thing, I do want to be active, I do want to do these things, I want to stay in the Octagon because I love fighting. Whenever I'm sitting here watching these guys and listening to them and seeing that they're out there fighting, I don't know if they're having fun but I wish I was! I'm sitting there going this sucks, but it actually let my body heal," Hendricks said. "There's a lot of injuries I didn't know about that healed now. I'm actually going into a camp 100-percent healed and 100-percent recovered and it makes me wonder how good could I be?"

After saying Nate Diaz 'doesn't move needle,' Dana White and manager clash on Twitter
“It seems like he’s popular when you’re looking on f–cking Twitter and some websites. But the real numbers tell the truth. We know who moves needles and who doesn’t move needles. If Nate Diaz was a massive needle-mover – he was just asking me, ‘How about (UFC CEO) Lorenzo (Fertitta calling him)?’ We’d have called him. He’d be on the phone, we’d be figuring it out, and we’d work it out. He doesn’t move the needle.”

Dana White: Ronda Rousey is ‘The Greatest Athlete I Have Ever Worked With’
the eyes of Dana White, Ronda Rousey can do no wrong. | Dave
It’s no secret that Dana White is a big Ronda
Rousey supporter. On Friday, he took his praise for the
UFC women’s bantamweight queen to a new level.
“Ronda is a different animal, man. She is f--king fascinating. She
is the greatest athlete I have ever worked with, on every level,”
White said during a media scrum in Ireland. “Everybody always talks
about how I am always ‘Ronda this and Ronda that’ -- it’s hard not
to ‘Ronda this and Ronda that’ when you deal with her.”
According to White, it is Rousey’s willingness to push through
injury and make sacrifices on behalf of her employer that elevates
her to the top spot in his list of fighters he has worked with,
over and above famously cooperative stars such as Georges St.
Pierre and Matt
“She just had knee surgery and got her hand casted, [yet] she is
going to China with me. Then she is going down to Brazil, and then
she’s promoting a bunch of movies and all that stuff. The girl
Dana White Optimistic for Ronda Rousey-Gina Carano Title Bout by Year’s End
Carano hasn’t fought since 2009. | Dave
UFC President Dana White says he and Lorenzo Fertitta are
willing to do whatever it takes to get Gina Carano
into the UFC and straight into a title shot against women’s
bantamweight champion Ronda
During a media scrum in Ireland on Friday, White said that
negotiations on a deal with Carano are moving forward.
“[The fight] won’t be the end of the year but it will probably be
early December,” he predicted.
Having promised Carano a title shot and roughly penciled in a date,
White has made serious commitment to making the bout happen. That
gives Carano and her agents a lot of leverage in terms of squeezing
maximum advantage from negotiations.
When asked if he had just given Carano the power to “sit back and
demand another zero on the end of the purse,” White conceded that
he might have.
“Yeah, sure,” he said. “But we either say no to that zero or yes to
“When we go into deals and do stuff, it’s not like me and Lorenzo
are like ‘Let’s work this thing in there and screw this [fighter]

Video: Ben Fowlkes' three reasons this dual-event UFC fight week rules
Or so says Ben Fowlkes, MMAjunkie and USA TODAY’s MMA columnist. Fowlkes takes a looks back at what he calls a fun fight week – with three reasons – following Wednesday’s UFC Fight Night 45 event and ahead of UFC Fight Night 46.
Hindsight: UFC Fight Night Cerrone vs. Miller in retrospect
Once again, at least from what I saw ( I realize it's debatable), Donald Cerrone had a terribly slow start and got hit a lot early in a fight. This time, however, he made a point of throwing a lot of step-in knees and front kicks to the body, to dissuade his opponent from bullying him inside. It worked brilliantly, as Miller was eventually forced to give him space and time to find a rhythm, at which point this fight was basically sealed for a Cerrone win.
The carioca Sheymon Moraes took advantage of the period of the World Cup to hone their techniques of Muay Thai in Bangkok, in Thailand, birthplace of the sport. But if fool who thinks the fighter edged only their elbows and fluted. According to Sheymon, owner of a cartel with six wins and no losses, he was surprised with the level of practice of Jiu-Jitsu and Wrestling.
"I went to Thailand to train Muay Thai at first, but I ended up being surprised with the level of training of ground and Wrestling. Had the company of great names in MMA and even found my friend Bruno Robust. Wrestlers also coached the UFC, like Roger Huerta and Brian Ebersole. It was worth it, I managed to realign my techniques and learn new things. "
Determined to escape the hoopla of Copa, Sheymon preferred to leave Brazil in order not to lose the focus for his debut at WSOF. Despite not being 100% defined the fight should take place in September against American Tyson Nam, famous for quick knockout on Dudu Dantas, champion of the cocks of Bellator.
"They (WSOF) only gave the position that I'd fight in September.

Legacy FC 33's Leonard Garcia on why he and 'Cowboy' don't have Greg Jackson in corner
“We’re still Jackson (fighters),” Garcia said. “There’s just no point in making Greg come out (to the fight) if he doesn’t have to, and if he didn’t watch the full camp, I don’t believe he’s qualified. Of course, he’s a smart guy, and I’m pretty sure he could figure it out on the fly. But whenever I have the guys who have been there with me every day and have seen where I’ve made my mistakes and where I haven’t – when I have those guys in the corner – I feel like it’s an advantage.”

UFC Fight Night: McGregor vs. Brandao staff picks and predictions
Zane Simon : I missed the weigh in video, but I hear it got emotional. That spells disaster for Brandao, who tends to let his emotions completely overrun his sense and the following adrenaline dump often leaves him totally gassed. McGregor tends to come from more of the Bisping school, in which most of his out of the cage talk and bluster is really just talk and bluster to get in his opponent's head. He fights with extreme calm and poise in the cage, and unlike Brandao seems to suffer from none of the emotional fallout. Even if that weren't the case, he's a much more skilled striker, both offensively and defensively, so as long as he doesn't get stupid and try and out-scramble Brandao, this is his fight to lose. Conor McGregor by KO, Round 2.
5 Reasons to Watch Fight Night Dublin
1. Notorious C.M.G.
Irish featherweight Conor McGregor makes his third appearance in the Octagon after back-to-back impressive performances. McGregor, fighting in his hometown of Dublin, has built a following with his confidence and brashness but faces a stiff test in Diego Brandao , winner of three of his last four. Notorious is all but guaranteeing a knockout victory , so tune in Saturday on UFC FIGHT PASS to watch all the action. > Watch: #AskAFighter with Conor McGregor
2. Gunnar Stay Undefeated?
Conor McGregor and Icelandic training partner Gunnar Nelson are polar opposites. Calm, collected, and relatively quiet, Nelson lets his fist and feet do the talking. Gunni, who is unbeaten in his last 13 fights, has finished two of his last three opponents and has yet to be taken down in the Octagon. Sitting at 12-0-1, the No. 13-ranked welterweight Nelson hopes to jump into the top 10 with a win over Zak Cummings at Fight Night Dublin. > Watch: On the Fly with Gunnar Nelson
3. Which Diego?
Diego Brandao established himself as a dangerous up-and-coming featherweight after recording four finishes on season 14 of The Ultimate Fighter, including two by flying knee.
Morning Report: Floyd Mayweather Jr. apologizes to Ronda Rousey and congratulates her on ESPY win
On the back of Conor's first UFC win and appearance on The Late Late Show with Pendred, interest in MMA in Ireland has exploded. It's safe to assume the card would have sold out anyway with Ireland being starved of a UFC event for so long, multiple UFC post fight press conferences over the years were hit with the question, 'When is the UFC coming back to Dublin?' With the added interest and media attention of a home grown star, the tickets sold out in minutes. There is a feeling in the air, an atmosphere building, the idea that everyone in attendance at the 02 on July 19th is going to be a part of something special. Below we take an in-depth look at some of the night's main bouts.
Norman Parke welcomes the challenge of fighting Conor McGregor but admits they are on ‘different paths’
"Possibly, that could happen but right now I think we're on different paths," Parke told MMAPlus.co.uk . "The UFC have got their way for Conor and I'm on my path. If he wants to move up and compete at lightweight, I'm more than welcome to the challenge. If you think this show sold out quick, Croke Park would sell out ten-times quicker. It would be a very good match up of styles, Conor is a very good fighter and I've always followed him, from the start I knew he was going to make it to the big time and I wish him all the best in his journey."
Video: Cub Swanson on trash talk and waiting for title shots
In the video above, hear what Swanson had to say about his current situation – and some recent trash talk thrown his way when he arrived in Dublin for UFC Fight Night 46, which is headlined by fellow featherweight Conor McGregor.
Dana White: 'Nate Diaz is not a needle mover'

Manny Pacquiao to face Chris Algieri November 22 in Macau
Manny Pacquiao's next opponent and PPV date are now set. On November 22, Pacquiao will return to Macau, China and HBO PPV where he will face Chris Algieri. Pacquiao comes in to this fight on a two fight win streak, having bounced back from his 2013 KO loss to Juan Manuel Marquez with wins over Brandon Rios and Timothy Bradley.
