'I'm for the Truth': RT Reporter Resigns Over Coverage of Malaysia Airlines Disaster
We were not surprised by Sara Firth's decision to leave RT after five years as a Moscow and London correspondent, as she has recently informed us that she was likely to take an offer from another firm. The plane crash is an absolutely terrible tragedy, there are a lot of questions that surround it and everybody is looking for answers. More than 15 RT journalists are working on this story — from Moscow, from the Russian-Ukranian border, London, Berlin, Washington. RT Spanish journalist Francisco Guaita was one of the first TV correspondents to get to the scene late last night. Our reporters are in the Netherlands and Malaysia. Sara has declared that she chooses the truth; apparently we have different definitions of the truth. We believe that the truth is what our reporters see on the ground, with their own eyes and not what's printed in the morning London newspaper. In our coverage, RT, unlike the rest of the media, did not draw conclusions before the official investigation has even begun. We show all sides of the story, even if everyone else has already decided which side is to blame.

Healthy Practices During Ramadan | The Dolce Diet
Following your workout, the sun should be set and you can feed those working muscles! You can start by breaking the fast with some water post-workout (remember how important hydration is)*. Then, in order to follow the rule of Ramadan, have 1 or 3 dates while preparing your meal. “In our religion it is recommended to break the fast with a few dates, some milk and water, then go to pray and then eat a moderate sized meal. I think this works the best to prevent overeating. I usually have dates, water and some soup, and then half an hour later, I will have a moderate sized meal. I will have another small meal before bedtime. In our religion there is the practice of waking up before sunrise during Ramadan to have a small meal “suhur,” but I would rather get enough sleep. I try to squeeze in as much protein and healthy food as I can in all my meals. Also, I try to increase vegetable and fruit intake,” Harb said when asked about his eating patterns during Ramadan versus his usual pattern.
UFC Fight Night: Dublin - McGregor vs. Brandao full fight video highlights
Half butterfly for Brandao with good posture control. McGregor gives him enough room to push off and escape but McGregor tags Brandao with a shot on his way back up. Roundhouse kick for McGregor but he narrowly avoids a Brandao haymaker. McGregor thuds a left hand right through Brandao's defense and the sheer power of impact breaks Brandao's guard open, allowing McGregor to slice a long left through the opening that meets Brandao's jaw. Brandao wilts to the canvas in slow-motion where McGregor unloads left hands until the ref pulls him off.

MMA on Instagram: Hiking, Biking, Beer and a Giraffe
Welcome to another week in MMA on Instagram! MMA stalker Katie Winter has collected the best pics that UFC and other MMA fighters and personalities were sharing this week, and they're all right here for your viewing pleasure.
Remembering UFC 100: A look back at the biggest night in UFC history
But if the lesson of UFC 100 is to be learned, it’s not going to be something planned, or anything someone can foresee today. All it’ll take is two strong, polarizing personalities from different worlds battling for a title after a first match that people can’t stop debating. It’ll take something that heats up a fan base both in and outside of the MMA. And a door falling off its hinges at the right time wouldn’t be the worst thing, either.
The Takeover - Conor TKOs Brandao in One
Pressure, what pressure? After weeks of build-up, Irish featherweight star Conor McGregor lived up to all the hype and all his talk - and in his hometown of Dublin no less - stopping Brazil’s Diego Brandao in the first round of their UFC Fight Night main event at the O2 Arena Saturday. “I felt calm throughout,” said McGregor to the arena he sold out in minutes. “I said I was going to put him away in the first round and I put him away in the first round. There’s not a man alive that can come on this soil and beat me.” It was the most important win of the 26-year-old’s career, proving not just that he could carry a promotion, but that he could defeat a talented veteran in his first bout since knee surgery left him on the shelf since August of 2013. “It was a clean sweep for the Irish,” said McGregor, one of four products of the Emerald Isle to win on the card. “We're not here to take part; we’re here to take over.” That was evident from the start. The boos didn’t appear to rattle Brandao as he made his way to the Octagon, but with the crowd bathed in Irish colors, it had to be hard for the Brazilian not to be affected by the roars from the capacity crowd as the local hero waded through the crowd and into battle.
Best MMA Fighters Outside the Octagon
Currently riding back-to-back wins over Matt Hamill and Top 15 UFC light heavyweight Rafael Cavalcante, Silva is a tough fight for anybody. Unfortunately, issues outside the cage have held him back over the past several years, and a recent run-in with the law caused his release from the UFC roster.
Geologic Wonder: See the Grand Canyon from Space
In the image, the canyon's forested North and South Rims are visible on either side of the canyon. The popular South Rim, which hosts about 90 percent of the Grand Canyon's 5 million visitors a year, averages about 7,000 feet (2,134 meters) in elevation, according to the National Park Service. The remote North Rim is about 1,000 feet (305 m) higher. Its cooler climes mean that roads to the North Rim are closed October through May each year.
Trading Shots: A good week to be a fight fan
That argument you just made hinges on a rationale we hear often from the UFC. It makes sense coming from the UFC. It would also make sense if a movie theater tried to tell us that there was no way to predict which movies will be good, so the only reasonable thing to do is to pay your nine bucks to see each and every one of them. But c’mon, dog. We can look at the trailer for that new “Hercules” movie and tell it’s probably going to be awful. We can also read a review of “Snowpiercer” and tell that it seems rad. We don’t have to pretend that everything is great until proven otherwise.

Making the Grade: Passes/Fails from UFC Fight Night Dublin
Most press conferences here in the states are devoid of cheering. Overseas, it's different. Maybe it's a cultural thing. In mainstream sports, there seem to be more clapping, albeit of a respectful nature, at international events, like in tennis and golf. But nowhere is it cool to jump up on press row and scream -- unless maybe your laptop breaks down just as you're filing on deadline. And drinking while you're at an event as media? Does your boss let you drink on the job at the office? The UFC is trying to gain a foothold as a mainstream sport, which means it has to do a better job vetting the "media" it lets in. Fanboys should be shown the door. Swiftly.

John Lineker to Ian McCall on potential bout: I want to fight, not play 'hide-and-seek'
“I have no problem at all with fighting McCall if that’s what the UFC wants to happen. But I would ask my manager to suggest the UFC create a new rule, deducting a point for every so many yards run inside the ring. I want to fight, not play hide-and-seek.”
John Lineker responds to Ian McCall's callout after UFC Fight Night Dublin win
Nothing like a little bit of banter to immediately spark interest in this type of fight. The UFC could certainly try to make this a #1 contender fight, although there could be some hesitancy given Lineker was just in one against Ali Bagautinov, where he missed weight on his 1st attempt and lost a clear decision. With John Dodson injured and Bagautinov suspended, they may very well just go ahead with McCall/Lineker as is the mutual interest of both fighters.
Hyun Gyu Lim vs. Takenori Sato slated for UFC Fight Night 52
Lim, a 29-year-old South Korean and former PXC champion, signed with the UFC in 2012 and ultimately made his promotional in early 2013. After scoring knockout wins over Marcelo Guimaraes and Pascal Krauss, he ran his winning streak to seven fights. However, most recently, he got a step up in competition and suffered a decision loss to Tarec Saffiedine in January’s UFC Fight Night 34 headliner. Despite the setback, he received his second straight “Fight of the Night” bonus.
Catching up on UFC Fight Night Dublin: What are the fights you need to see?
We all know the complaints of UFC oversaturation at this point, which makes a mid-day card available exclusively on Fight Pass live from Dublin, Ireland and featuring not a huge degree of star power seem pretty easy to skip. If you did indeed do something else with your Saturday and skipped the Fight Night: McGregor vs. Brandao card but want to know what to watch to get caught up, Bloody Elbow has you covered.

Conor McGregor has something special, even if we still don't know what that something is
Some of that is just good timing. The UFC’s global ambitions have put it in a little bit of a bind with events like these. It needs regional draws who are also Internet draws. It doesn’t want to waste what few pay-per-view stars it has on a small-ish arena in Dublin town, but it still needs someone who can satisfy the locals while also convincing fans with no nationalistic fellow feeling to flip open the laptop on the other side of the Atlantic.
Demetrious Johnson: 'I don't care if my opponents are cheating or not'
"I don't care if my opponents are cheating or not," Johnson said on a recent edition of The MMA Hour. "I train my butt off to fight the man who is put in front of me whether he's on steroids or not. I want to play on a level playing field, but if they knew about it beforehand and didn't stop it, at the same time, I took care of business. No big deal."
Enson Inoue’s PRIDE FC contract highlights lack of steroid testing
For many years fans have speculated over how prevalent steroids were at the height of Pride. Seeing it in black and white on a contract might prove once and for all that steroids were prevalent in the organization.
Norman Parke interested in headlining a UFC event in Belfast
"We just asked (UFC President) Dana (White that at the end of the bout," said Parke. "He said, ‘Yeah, there's a possibility.' He said they're looking at their options. That would be a great opportunity for me to headline or co-main event. The last time they were there was 2007, so that's a long time ago. That would be great if they could have an event there. That would be absolutely unbelievable."
Amanda Nunes wants to knock Cat Zingano out, prove she’s ready for Ronda Rousey
"She will keep it standing, and that’s what I want, but as soon as she feels my hands, she will try to take me down or get me close to the fence. And I’m ready for this," Nunes said. "I know she’s going to try this. I know she won’t try to trade punches with me because my striking is on a whole other level."
UFC Fight Night: Lawler vs. Brown viewing and schedule guide
Lawler just recently finished Jake Ellenberger at UFC 173 and with a win on Saturday night he will earn a rematch against welterweight champion Johny Hendricks following their ultra close title bout back in March. Meanwhile, Brown has won seven fights in a row with six of them coming via TKO or knockout and after finishing Erick Silva in one of the most exciting fights of the year, the Ohio native will be smelling gold if he can get past Lawler in San Jose.
UFC's Dana White indulges talk of Gunnar Nelson vs. Rory MacDonald
White's reply was diplomatic, if indefinite, "Let me talk to the guys and see what they think. What I don't like is you see these guys who are talented, super-talented but don't have the big-fight experience yet, taking these big jumps up. But we'll see what happens. Let me talk to his people, and talk to him, and really see what we want to do here."
Conor McGregor jokes that an Irishman could eventually replace Dana White
Conor McGregor said his fellow Irishmen aren’t here merely to take part in the UFC. Instead, he said they’re going to take over, and he even joked that could mean UFC President Dana White’s job.
Cathal Pendred thanks ref Marc Goddard for comeback win, 'TUF 19' redemption
“I was worried about it at one stage, but thankfully, you have one of the best referees – if not the best referee in the world – in there with me, Marc Goddard,” Pendred said. “He knew I was still in the fight. He could see I was still trying to defend myself and I was still trying to fight back. I’m very grateful that Marc Goddard gave me the opportunity to do that. It allowed me to be the ‘Fight of the Night.’ I changed my live tonight, getting that $50,000 (bonus check).”
Dana White: Conor McGregor reminds me of Ronda Rousey
"I'd like him to relax," White stated at the post-fight media scrum. "I like that he's ambitious. He just needs to relax a little bit. I love the things he says. I'm telling you, he reminds me of Ronda Rousey. Him and his visions remind me of Ronda Rousey."
When it comes to Conor McGregor, somehow we just get "it"
When Dustin Poirier fought (and beat) Diego Brandao at UFC 168 , the only real story there was that Brandao threatened to stab Poirier in his neck before the fight, and that he was slipping from consciousness before the second round. Otherwise, a pretty freaking mellow encounter. When Conor McGregor fought (and beat) Diego Brandao seven months later, we were celebrating everything from the fact that Brandao made weight to the importance of the two-step Guinness pour. We were wrapping ourselves in the Irish tricolor flag, and humming bars from Sinead O’Connor B-sides. We were locking arms and dancing to "My Own Dear Galway Bay," and taking second stabs at reading Ulysses . Forget that the thing was being shown exclusively on Fight Pass in the States -- suddenly, it was all about Ireland. More pointedly, it was all about the Irishman Conor McGregor, who has what Dana White calls that "it" factor. What is the "it" factor? It’s a lot of things, not the least of which is an ability to make people care and feel and want to associate with a unique experience. Even White himself was talking about his dear old grammy, who stemmed from the green center of Cork, before the fight.

Dustin Poirier calls out Conor McGregor, McGregor says 'he can pretend he wants this fight'
Here's what Poirier said to Bloody Elbow alum Duane Finley , "My next fight will be my 11th in the UFC, and it would be his fourth. That said, I'm a fighter and don't like to pick who I fight. If I had my choice, I'd be fighting for the belt. But I can't sit back and say I want to fight Aldo, Mendes or Cub, because I've already said all of this stuff, and the UFC is going to do what they want to do. For me as a fighter, I want to whip McGregor's ass for talking so much. I don't like that. I work hard and I take this very seriously. This is my life and it would be a pleasure for me to beat a guy who believes in himself like that.
White: Saturday was 'biggest' event to date for UFC Fight Pass digital network
The UFC doesn’t release streaming figures or the total number of subscribers for the service. However, according to White, UFC Fight Pass, which launched in January, added a substantial number of new subscribers, who pay $9.99 a month for live event streams and a catalog of past fights from the UFC, WEC, Strikeforce, PRIDE and other fight promotions.
UFN 46 results: Fights to make next
Brad Pickett - You'd think this might be the end of Pickett's title hopes, but in a top-heavy division, with an active champion that Chris Cariaso can earn a title shot against, given the right timing anything is possible. It was clear to me beforehand that Pickett has been on the decline for a while and that the speedier fighters at flyweight weren't going to make his slowing down any less of an issue, and with Pickett struggling to pin McCall down for most of the three rounds my hunch was confirmed. One of the slower 125lbers, who is also not going to make Pickett chase him all night, is former title challenger John Moraga , and that'd surely be a fan friendly fight of phone booth sluggers. Moraga is hoping to stay relevant himself after three bad performances in a row.
Norman Parke wants Diego Sanchez – and a UFC return to Belfast
UFC lightweight Norman Parke lives just about an hour’s drive from Belfast, Northern Ireland, where the UFC held a single event seven years ago. Now that the promotion has returned to Dublin, he’d like the promotion to come back to his neck of the woods.
