Conor McGregor's UFC headliner is Irish channel's highest-rated sporting event
“Saturday night’s fantastic UFC ratings prove that there is a real hunger for MMA in Ireland, in particular Ireland’s own star attraction and showman Conor McGregor.” TV3 Group Director of Content Jeff Ford stated. “3e was the first broadcaster to take the plunge and broadcast UFC live and free-to-air, and the feedback from our viewers has been great. We would like to thank our friends and colleagues from the Ultimate Fighting Championship for their support and help and we look forward to continuing our relationship with them in the future.”

The Bellator Reboot Begins, as Scott Coker Signs Paul Daley and Melvin Manhoef | MMAWeekly.com
“Like always, I’m coming into Bellator to put on a show,” Daley said on Monday. “I loved working for Coker back in Strikeforce, and when I got the call to possibly come back to Bellator, it was a no-brainer. I feel great, I’m fresh, and I’m going after that belt.

Holly Holm supports Gina Carano UFC title shot, believes Ronda Rousey deserves pound-for-pound ranking among men
"I know there is a certain strength in men that is a little different in females but personally I would like to be on a pound-for-pound list that's mixed. It's a compliment. Heck yeah, let's do it. In 2008, I was nominated for an ESPY for best fighter of the year. I knew I wasn't going to win. I was up against Floyd Mayweather, Kelly Pavlik and Georges St-Pierre, but I'll tell you, it was more of an honor for me to be nominated best fighter of the year than female athlete of the year because I was grouped in with those guys."

Sam Champion -- Tony Dungy Is Wrong On Michael Sam ... 'What a Shame ... '
Sam Champion is wrong about Tony Dungy. He didn't say we wouldn't pick Sam because he's gay; he says he wouldn't have picked him because of all the distractions surrounding him. And he's entitled to that opinion. Get it right, Champion!
Dustin Poirier: 'I'll be the first real fight Conor McGregor's ever been in'
The charismatic McGregor has been a pot-stirrer in the division since last year when he beat Max Holloway in Boston. In the meantime, as he recovered from ACL sugery, he went down the list of featherweights and issued insults or dismissive thoughts about each within the top ten, including Poirier, whom he called a "peahead." Though Poirier is farther along in the UFC rankings than McGregor, he says that since he’s had trouble getting a top five opponent, the next best thing is fighting The Next Best Thing. "To tell you the honest truth, I think I should be fighting Frankie Edgar , Chad Mendes , Cub Swanson again…I should be fighting the top guys," he said. "But, I’ve asked for those fights and haven’t got them. So what should I do?" Because Poirier has been vocal in challenging who right now he considers an over-hyped media (and UFC) darling, he’s been getting a lot of backlash on social media. "[The Irish fans] definitely are passionate about their guys, and I don’t know if Twitter has a limit of blocks you can do, but I’ve got to be close to it," he said. "Because man, I’ve been getting so many hate messages and this and that, and that’s cool.
15 Not-So-Obvious Ways To Cure Jet Lag
As Steven W. Lockley, a member of NASA's fatigue management team, told the New York Times, the direction you fly makes a difference on whether you'll want sunlight earlier in the day or less sunlight. This is due to the way time zones are spread across the globe. It's easier to add hours or daylight exposure if flying east because you'll be adding hours to the clock. Flying west means to set the clock back and it's harder to take away daylight unless you're already something of a night owl.

The rise of data and the death of politics
With his belief that algorithmic regulation is based on "a deep understanding of the desired outcome", O'Reilly cunningly disconnects the means of doing politics from its ends. But the how of politics is as important as the what of politics – in fact, the former often shapes the latter. Everybody agrees that education, health, and security are all "desired outcomes", but how do we achieve them? In the past, when we faced the stark political choice of delivering them through the market or the state, the lines of the ideological debate were clear. Today, when the presumed choice is between the digital and the analog or between the dynamic feedback and the static law, that ideological clarity is gone – as if the very choice of how to achieve those "desired outcomes" was apolitical and didn't force us to choose between different and often incompatible visions of communal living.

EA SPORTS UFC – Roster Reveal
BJ “The Prodigy” Penn has accomplished a lot over the course of a storied pro MMA career that began back at UFC 31 in May of 2001. One of the sport’s most feared fighters on the mat and one of Hawaii’s most popular athletes, Penn has competed across multiple weight classes and remains the only fighter to this day to hold titles in both the UFC’s Lightweight and Welterweight divisions. The first non-Brazilian to win a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu world-title at the black belt level, Penn earned his BJJ black belt in only three years and his nickname in the process. Not having competed since a 2012 loss to Rory MacDonald, Penn will make his return to the Octagon to complete his trilogy against Frankie Edgar following their coaching stints on Season 19 of The Ultimate Fighter.

Anthony Pettis meets Gilbert Melendez Dec. 6; admits criticism 'gets under my skin'
"My fighting style is crazy, but at the same time I've been martial arts since I was five years old. I've been fighting the same way since I was five," Pettis said. "The training camps aren't the issue. I used to think it was the training camps I toned it back in training camps. It was just one kick he threw, an inside kick he was aiming to the shin, I didn't check it right, it was the right amount of impact, and the right angle .. it's weird to me. I'm not going to go in and change anything up, if I change anything up maybe I won't have the right performance."

Fighter Diet & Dieting ...
Who cares you know this and that but you fail at putting that knowledge into DOING? I don't know how it got that way, but how come we have so many know-it-all-ers and besserwissers who apparently found the fountain of wisdom, yet they seem to practice more of the opposite to what they know they are supposed to do?... Because it is so easy to TALK. It is so easy to comment on what others should do or shouldn't do, but then oh, when it comes to themselves hm....what? who? me? Wait, did I say something about me?...
By the estimates of every MMA fighter who has dared to speak out about it, at least half of MMA fighters use performance enhancing drugs. Some fighters, like Matt Serra and Krzysztof Soszynski , have stated that only a small percentage of professional fighters don’t do some form of illegal doping. (“I don’t give a [expletive] if it’s happening in baseball,” Serra said. “But when a guy can kick your head off, someone can get hurt. There’s a chance for serious bodily harm.”) But if you make a stink about it, you’re a troublemaker, and if you pretend that PEDs aren’t really a big deal, you’re a superhero. I mean, after all, it’s a fist fight, y’know? Chemicals don’t give you technique or heart, and those steroids aren’t gonna help you when I touch your chin. Ugh.

Amanda Nunes: I'm going to finish Cat Zingano and I'll beat Ronda Rousey
Nunes knows that the discussion surrounding this fight will be about Zingano coming back to fighting after more than a year away and missing out on her opportunity to not only coach on The Ultimate Fighter opposite women's champion Ronda Rousey, but not being able to take the fight she earned after knocking out Miesha Tate in her UFC debut. Nunes is more than happy to let the media build Zingano up to an astronomical level before their fight because when she wins, the title shot and the fight with Rousey then go to her.

Anthony Pettis announces he's facing Gilbert Melendez on Dec 6 at UFC 181
The fight will mark Pettis' first title defense since winning the belt against Benson Henderson at UFC 164 in August 2013. He was expected to return in early 2014, but an injury kept him sidelined and the UFC opted to put him in as a coach on the Ultimate Fighter further delaying his next bout.
Conor McGregor's UFC Dublin Sing-Along
The Irish were in fine voice in Dublin on Saturday night as they cheered their countrymen on to victory. Seasoned sports fans might know most or all of the songs and chants you hear at Irish sporting events; for those who don’t, here’s the official musical program from Saturday night in the stands.
Rousey on Cyborg: 'In a perfect world, she would be a girl and not an it'
As a fighter for whom quite a lot of value has been placed on her ability to not only win, but look good doing it, it's a bit disheartening to hear Rousey so heavily reinforce the idea that "being a girl," (or really, feminine in appearance) is seemingly as necessary to being a good fighter as, well, being a good fighter. The idea that Cyborg is not quite feminine is a point reinforced by fans, the media, the UFC, and at times even Cyborg herself (the nickname "Cyborg" certainly self-identifies as something more than woman). Thus, her ability to be a "good fighter," seems to constantly come into question, even as she destroys her opposition. Recently, as Ronda's public profile has risen, the necessity to dehumanize Justinho has been put into overdrive by the UFC. Dana White's mocking of Justinho walking in a dress and heel s was a particular low point in his own continuing attempts to paint Cyborg as something other than a woman who fights other women.
Gegard Mousasi regrets outburst following UFC 176 cancellation
In an unfortunate bit of timing, UFC 176 co-main event fighter Gegard Mousasi awoke from his slumber and saw the news that his fight along with the rest of the card was canceled. It didn't take long for the former Strikeforce champion to react, which he did on Facebook by saying that it was 'nice to hear your fight is canceled through social media, good job UFC'. Of course his post went viral in a matter of minutes and in hindsight, Mousasi is more angry at himself for reacting the way he did before knowing the timeline of how everything happened.

Barboza , Adriano

Cerrone went into hostile territory for his July 16 encounter with
New Jersey native Jim Miller .
The fight got nowhere near the scheduled five rounds, as Cerrone
dealt the famously durable Miller his first career knockout via
second-round head kick and follow-up punches.
Once again streaking toward a possible title bid, Cerrone was
immediately set up for a meeting with fellow contender Khabib

was forced to withdraw on the same day bout agreements were signed.
For now, Cerrone will have to settle for a spot in the crowded

Paul Daley signs with Bellator
"Like I said in the past when I've given my opinion on a return to the UFC, it was something that I would have considered. But now, with this new era in Bellator, I can see it becoming the rival that Strikeforce once was to the UFC. Bjorn (Rebney) had his thing, he ran with it. Bellator had a great outlet with Spike and with Viacom and all those guys, but I just don't think he was able to produce a good enough product or a show that could really stand up to the likes of the UFC.
