Drysdale & Casey fail post fight drug tests
The UFC has been notified by the Nevada State Athletic Commission that UFC middleweight Kevin Casey and light heavyweight Robert Drysdale failed drug tests following their fights at UFC 175 and The Ultimate Fighter Finale, respectively. Casey tested positive for drostanolone and Drysdale was flagged for an elevated testosterone-to-epitestosterone ratio. Both fighters have been temporarily suspended from competition and informed their positive tests violated the UFC Fighter Conduct Policy and Promotional Agreement with Zuffa, LLC. The UFC has a strict, consistent policy against the use of any illegal and/or performance-enhancing drugs, stimulants or masking agents by our athletes and will support the NSAC's determination pending a formal hearing at a later date.

Alexander Gustafsson says knee injury is ‘not very serious’ and will only keep him on the sidelines for a ‘few weeks’
"Thank you for all the support and messages. I got a knee injury. It's not very serious, but I need to (take) care (of) it," said Gustafsson. "It's a small issue that has been with me. It's not a long recovery time - a few weeks. I'm disappointed, I really wanted to fight at 178 but I can't. I will watch it, for sure. It's a great card."
Report: Marlon Moraes defends title vs. Josh Hill at WSOF 13
Canada’s Hill will be looking to stay unbeaten. He returned to action in June after nearly two years on the sidelines and scored a first-round knockout of Mike Adams at WSOF Canada’s second event. That was enough to get him a shot at the red-hot Moraes.

Don't Sleep on the UFC Macao Card | FIGHTLAND
All of the Chinese fighters have spent most of their time training in Phuket with Top Team and a few other gyms. They are a proud bunch and feel that they should be winning. Jumabieke Tuerxun’s heartbreaking loss to Leandro Issa a few weeks ago has been a hard lesson for the Chinese fighting in Macao August 23rd. The Chinese don’t have their own Conner MacGregor talking about “dominating” and calling guys out, but they definitely are here to take part. This card is the first event for them, in many ways, because there are no debut jitters, they’ve had time to learn how different it is up at this level, and they have the chance to do something big... we’ll see how they do.
WSOF champ Marlon Moraes battles undefeated Josh Hill in September
Hill (10-0) earned a shot at the WSOF title after scoring a first-round TKO victory over Mike Adams in his WSOF debut in June. "Gentleman" was a cast member of The Ultimate Fighter 18 in 2013, but went 1-1 on the reality show.

David Branch, watch your back. Kelvin Tiller is coming. The unbeaten Kansan vows to be WSOF champion even though he's yet to step foot inside the decagon. Tiller, 24, is slated to face standup ace Elvis Mutapcic at WSOF 12 on Aug. 9. The main card match-up takes place at a catchweight (195 pounds) and will mark Tiller's toughest challenge to date, meaning fans and pundits alike can judge for themselves whether Tiller possesses the goods to threaten Branch's throne.
Speaking in a deep and authoritative baritone voice that belies his youth, Tiller is a study in persistence and determination, a young man who has outlasted homelessness and was back in the gym hitting mitts and jumping rope two days after having his broken jaw wired shut (“I never thought about giving up fighting,” he said).
Here is my interview with the former track and field star:
Q: What do you know about your opponent at WSOF 12, Elvis Mutapcic?
I know absolutely nothing about him. I've never studied my opponents. I just worry about what I'm going to do. I don't worry about losing – I always think that I'm going to win.
Donald Cerrone: Khabib Nurmagomedov has withdrawn from three fights against me
“It’s bad luck,” Cerrone said. “(We were supposed to fight) earlier in the year. One was called off because of Ramadan or whatever he has to do for his religion. He didn’t want to take the fight because it would put him during that period. The time before that I don’t really remember the logistics of it. Now he’s injured.”

UFC 178: Jones vs. Cormier fight card shaping up
While fans were looking forward to Jon Jones/Alexander Gustafsson part 2, Gustafsson is out with a knee injury and has since been replaced by Daniel Cormier. Meanwhile, Irish featherweight talent Conor McGregor heads to PPV for the first time to take on top 10 ranked Dustin Poirier. Dominick Cruz returns to action after almost a 3 year layoff to fight Takeya Mizugaki, while Tim Kennedy meets Yoel Romero in a pivotal middleweight match-up. Oh, and the UFC plans a "massive fight announcement" for this show, so none of the fights I've mentioned is the co-main event.

Sherdog’s Top 10: Late Bloomers - Top 10
Mixed martial artists often experience vast peaks and valleys
throughout their careers. Some are remembered for hot starts that
fizzle into mediocrity, while others hone their craft and become
some of the most successful fighters of their time period.
Compiled by a panel of voters, the latest Sherdog Top 10 list
focuses on MMA’s late bloomers: competitors who stumbled out of the
gate and clawed their way to respectability, or fighters who seemed
to be spinning their wheels before suddenly experiencing a later
Debate and discuss accordingly.

Preposterous to compare a high school situation to a governing body of combat sports? No. Breaking the rules is universal –be it illegal recruiting, or using banned substances–but it is how you deal with it that differs. Kentucky did it right, Nevada did it wrong in a recent attempt at sanctioning rule violators and ones with previous offenses at that.

John Lineker fine waiting on Ian McCall to heal but expects a real fight in return
“Ian McCall asked me to wait until his hands are healed,” Lineker told MMAjunkie in his native Portuguese. “I’m fine with that, but I want to make sure I’m waiting for an actual fight. “Of course I will wait until Ian’s hands are healed, but is he just going to run circles around the cage? Everyone, even Ian, knows he’s just going to try and run from me. That’s not a fight. Let’s give the fans a fight.”

Early betting odds have Anderson Silva as sizable favorite against Nick Diaz
It's no surprise Silva is the favorite against someone whose last win was in 2011 and has never competed at middleweight before. The only question is how much bigger can Silva get as a favorite, and as we get closer to fight time, will Diaz get some late money thrown his way? After all, at 39 years of age, perhaps the extent of Anderson Silva's decline is greater than expected.

Nick Diaz: "Fighting is not something I enjoy doing, it's something I feel I have to do"
"I didn't ever really mean to make that statement that I'm retired," Diaz said on a UFC media call Wednesday. "What I mean by that whole thing is you never really retire from martial arts, that just doesn't happen. Some people don't make it in martial arts in the same way I do, in the same perspective I do, or got into it the same way. What I meant to say is I'm retired from climbing the ropes, I'm definitely not going to take easy fights, I'm not doing anybody any favors and I'm definitely not doing myself any favors taking a fight I'm not happy with. That's where I stood with my whole retirement game plan."
The Fighter & The Kid
This podcast has jumped to the top of my UFC/MMA podcast list - but c'mon, once a week?. I really feel like Brendan and Bryan should be able to do at least 2 eps a week, or maybe 2 hours a pop - I mean, what else do these guys have to do during the day? Brendan habitually mispronouncing every major UFC fighter's name on the roster is a nice touch, too. I also want to hear more about Bryan's mad greco skills. I think he should do each episode shirtless.
Welterweight Diaz 'happy' with UFC contract
Last week, Diaz met with UFC president Dana White and CEO Lorenzo Fertitta in Las Vegas to sign a three-fight contract extension. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Diaz said on Tuesday he is happy with the result.
Watch this video for five minutes and try to figure out the rules of the game. There are at least 50 players on the field at any given time, with players drifting in and out seemingly at random. The referees are the guys in the colorful shirts, I think. The object of the game is to take the ball into the end zone, like a normal sport, but — in a hilariously ghetto twist — there are no end zone markings or goal posts to speak of . You just throw the ball against the fence when you’ve made it all the way without being knocked out.
Video: Watch UFC Fight Night 47's Ryan Bader dismantle 'Rampage' Jackson
In two weeks, Bader (17-4 MMA, 10-4 UFC) will be in fight week for his first headlining bout in the UFC, and he’ll be looking to make that his biggest win yet when he meets Ovince St. Preux (16-5 MA, 4-0 UFC) in the main event of UFC Fight Night 47.

When bantamweight Bryson Hansen (7-1) confronts World Series of Fighting (WSOF) newcomer Matt Sayles (2-0) on Aug. 9, it’ll be his first time appearing on the WSOF televised main card. After an impressive 46 second TKO win in his promotional debut, the 28-year old hopes to deliver another showstopping performance on NBC Sports Network..
“It feels great. It’s actually something I’ve been working to get to. So, for it to finally happen, it’s more of a dream than anything else,” Hansen told MMA Fight Corner..
Ahead of Hansen at WSOF 12 lies Alliance MMA’s Sayles, who turned pro at the beginning of 2014. With two knockout wins already notched under his belt, Sayles has only spent two minutes and one second inside the cage..
Meanwhile Hansen hasn’t spent more than three minutes in the cage in his last two fights. With 5 victories earned by way of knockout and four of those occuring in the opening round of action, he’s developing a reputation as a heavy handed 135-pounder. At the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino next Saturday, he’ll look to extend his win streak to three.

Belfort responds to Rockhold, critics: 'A lot of guys they are just mama’s boys with powder in their butts'
He would continue, referencing his eighteen years in the fight game, "In 2004, I became the light heavyweight champion. I’m so glad that I’m still here, and I think that affects a lot of people, and give joy to a lot of people. A lot of guys they are just mama’s boys with powder in their butts."
Healthy Johny Hendricks nearing 100 percent again, thrilled to face Robbie Lawler with two arms this time around
"I was torn between those two. Ya I'd like to face Robbie Lawler healthy - with everything going right. I'd (like to) get in there and see if is as close a fight as it was the first one. I'm healthy; both arms are active and I can do a lot more."
Luke Rockhold calls Vitor Belfort's UFC title shot 'a joke'
“Yeah, (the NSAC was too easy on him). You get guys like Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds and Lance Armstrong, and these guys get erased from the record books and never come back to the sport. They’re gone; they’re forgotten. Then you got guys like Vitor Belfort that get slapped on the wrist and rewarded with a title shot. It’s a joke in my mind. He got caught early for steroids in Nevada, got popped after this whole stint in Brazil. I owned up, I took my loss, no excuses. But then he comes back, and the one time he tries to fight in the States, he fails the test. That right there, I’ve got no respect from him.”
