UFC: Cung Le 'We'll see who's throwing who around in the Octagon'

I'm pumped up for this fight. I should have gotten the surgeries earlier, instead of waiting till the last minute. I was out for so long. I should have just taken care of it instead of just trying to work around it. Now it's fixed and it's go time. I'm not a spring chicken anymore, but I feel good. I listened to my doctors, did my rehab, strength and conditioning, so now, every time he says he's bigger and stronger than me...we'll see who's throwing who around in the Octagon.

Wanderlei Silva's disciplinary hearing postponed by NSAC

Silva is likely in a world of trouble with America's most influential commission, having ran from his gym to avoid a random drug test. He seems to be operating under the illusion that the situation is more or less nothing and has repeatedly talked as though it is over and has been issuing challenges for fights as though he isn't staring in the face of a lengthy suspension.

I think that she's just not great for a title fight, she's great for a whole division and giving the women some real legitimacy. I couldn't be happier about her joining the company."

Info

Hi, my name is Randy and I am a 29 year old high school teacher and wrestling coach from Southern California. Unfortunately, I was recently diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiform (GBM) Grade 4. Around mid April, Southern California went through a series of heat waves. During that period, I began to experience headaches on a daily basis. I very rarely have headaches (1 or 2) a year, so I assumed they were just from my allergies. As the days went on, my headaches were getting worse and no over the counter medicine was relieving the pain. One day in the middle of May, I was driving on the freeway and had difficulties staying in my lane and my headaches were becoming unbearable, so I checked into urgent care. The physicians ordered a CTSCAN and found a mass tumor in my right parietal lobe of my brain. They then rushed me to another facility for Neurosurgery and operated on me the following day and my surgeon removed 90-95% of the Tumor. I felt like the worst was behind me and I was in the clear. A few days later my pathology test came back with the unfortunate news that I have GBM Grade 4, a form of cancer that is considered in the medical world to be incurable.

Potential Lyoto Machida vs. Luke Rockhold UFC bout in preliminary discussions

If this fight does become official, I definitely agree with Cormier's suggestion to put it on the undercard of Weidman vs. Belfort, or at least the UFC on Fox show taking place one week later. It gives the UFC some flexibility as far as having either Machida or Rockhold as a replacement opponent in case something derails Weidman/Belfort, and it also can stand alone as a Fox main event.

Karo Parisyan will return at Bellator 127. | Photo: Dave Mandel/Sherdog.com Karo Parisyan will return to Bellator MMA Oct. 3 to take on Marius Zaromskis at Bellator 127. Bellator officials confirmed the bout with Sherdog.com on Thursday. Bellator 127 will emanate from Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, Calif., and air live on Spike TV. No other fights have been scheduled for the event as of yet. Parisyan will look to push his winning streak to three, following the first two technical knockout victories of his 15-year mixed martial arts career. “The Heat” holds wins over Phil Baroni and Ron Keslar under the Bellator banner and will be fighting for the third consecutive time in his native state of California. Zaromskis will be making his seventh appearance for the Scott Coker-led promotion. With a record of 4-2 in Bellator, “The Whitemare” will look to build upon his wins over the likes of Nordine Taleb and Waachiim Spiritwolf , while putting as much distance as possible between his two consecutive losses against Andrey Koreshkov and Brent Weedman .

You’ll never know everything, and there’s always something to learn. Fighting is no different. I don’t think I’m better or worse than anyone else. 19 Wladimir Klitschko Sued by Wife of Fighter who Underwent Brain Surgery and Suffered Seizures

Wladimir Klitschko, boxer and owner of K2 Boxing Promotions is being sued by the wife of fighter Magomed Abdusalamov for injuries he sustained in a bout with Mike Perez in 2013. In documents obtained by TMZ.com, Abdusalamov underwent brain surgery and suffered several seizures following the fight at Madison Square Garden and his wife claims the bout should have been stopped. Additionally, she claims Klitschko and his promotion company associates delayed getting medical attention to her husband. In response, the Ukrainian boxer has filed an insurance claim through his company to cover the costs of any judgements pertaining to the lawsuit, but the insurance company has now asked a judge to announce that the policy specifically covers injuries like illness, disease or an accidental death outside the boxing ring that would have led to the cancellation of the fight. A judge has not yet reached a decision.

UFC Fight Night: Bisping vs. Le - The Idiot's Guide to the Fight Pass Preliminary Card

When people talk about "Asian fighters dropping the ball", I think people often fail to look at their strength of competition. So while there are certainly cultural factors at play, there's also overlap with how some Pride fighters came over with little success: they finally starting facing top competition on a consistent basis. I'd curious to look at a numbers break down, and how many fighters from Japan came over and fought ranked competition right away, or rather, what the win percentage of their opponents was.

26 Hall of Fame Referee Kenny Bayless Appointed Referee of Mayweather-Maidana II

The highly anticipated rematch between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Marcos Maidana on Sept. 13 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas now has a referee and three judges. The Nevada Athletic Commission unanimously approved Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame referee Kenny Bayless to be the third man inside the ring, while Dave Moretti, John McKaie and Guido Cavalieri will serve as the judges. This will mark the fourth Mayweather fight Bayless has overseen, having served as the referee during Money’s fights against Oscar de la Hoya, Shane Mosley and Canelo Alvarez. Some boxing fans and pundits considered the scoring during Mayweather-Maidana’s first encounter to be somewhat disproportionate. Moretti will be the only judge returning to score the rematch, making the bout his ninth Mayweather scrap altogether. In their initial affair on May 3, Mayweather cruised to 117-111 and 116-112 marks on two judges’ scorecards. But the third judge scored the fight a draw, thus fueling the fire for an immediate rematch. This will only be the second time Mayweather (46-0) has granted an opponent a rematch.

Increasing Your Training Efficiency: Wrestle-Jitsu's Take on Training

Watch these videos systematically and strategically as well. Someone in class giving you a hard time with their de la riva? Look up specific passes. Look up 3 of them. Try them in the same order you researched them. Implementing guard specific passes is one of the most important things I ever learned, especially in the gi when the game is less brute and more complex and grip dependent. Another training partner of mine (in fact the creator of BJJ.io) watches videos of the Mendes brothers' matches and tries to implement the movements they hit on their opponents the same order in which they occur in the match. Moral of the story: revisit the same videos. I have 8 videos I rewatch at least once a month. Then I change videos the next month. So back to improving your bottom game. You've chosen your guard. Collar and sleeve guard to leg lasso to sweep as 1 of your 3 sweeps against equal ranks and 2 of your 6 sweeps against lesser ranks. Maybe spider guard scissor sweep to leg drag pass as another of your sweep-pass combinations. You get the idea. Write it down. Scribble it out. Write it down again.

NEWS - The Beaten Path: Prospect Ozzy Dugulubgov And The MMA Hotbed Of North Caucasus | WSOF World Series of Fighting MMA

It’s the North Caucasian Invasion. Easy enough to label it something else. You know, slap it with the Russian Revolution moniker, then tie it up in a neat collection of archetypes involving bears and Aleksandr Karelin and nursery rhymes with huntsmen in them. It’s easy, but it’s like a lot of easy things in that it’s not correct. Ozzy Dugulubgov, for one, wants to make that clear. “I’m not Russian.” Yes, Ozzy (born “Azamat”) Dugulubgov was born in Russia. But he was also born in the North Caucasus region, an area that was annexed by the Russians in the 19th century and has remained politically turbulent more or less ever since. Like most fighters from that part of the world, Dugulubgov draws a bright dividing line between his homeland and the nation that controls it. Their common ground stretches to fighting, too; Dugulubgov is the latest in a string of elite North Caucasian MMA prospects. In Dugulubgov’s case, the mark is being made in the lightweight division of the World Series of Fighting promotion. He fights Jonathan Nunez Saturday at WSOF 9, and if he wins, he’ll be 6-1 as a pro, five for his last five and 3-0 in WSOF.

Twitter Mailbag: Cung Le's physique, Eddie Alvarez's release and more

It’s important for us to hear from the Soszynskis of the MMA community, because it reminds us of the need to make the sport as safe as it can be (which is still not that safe), and also of the need to establish some way of helping these guys once they get to that point. We like to soothe our collective consciousness by looking at broken-down fighters and saying, “Hey, they knew what they were getting into.” But if that’s true, it’s also true that we knew as well. So did the people who profited from their self-destruction, which is why they should at least a little bit of the responsibility for dealing with the aftermath.

UFC Fight Night: Henderson vs. dos Anjos Crystal Ball Predictions

Benson Henderson might not be in the UFC's official rankings, but he's one of the best pound-for-pound talents in the organization. The tough sell for him is that he has already lost to Anthony Pettis, the lightweight champion, twice. If Henderson beats Rafael dos Anjos at UFC Fight Night on FOX Sports 1 (10 p.m. ET) on Saturday, though, it'll be hard to keep him out of the title conversation. He's still ranked No. 1 among lightweight contenders.

Despite his athletic gifts, Le hasn’t always been the leanest or most muscular fighter out there; in fact, he’s looked rather soft at times, relatively speaking. But now, at the age of 42, he’s showing up looking this jacked? In a sport where aging veterans are getting popped for PEDs left and right , MMA fans were understandably dubious.
