Nate Diaz after UFC 202 loss to Conor McGregor: 'I'm not doing (expletive) until we go for round three'

“It’s still not enough,” Diaz said. “It’s always going to be more. Always more and more. It’s never going to be enough. Look at my face. You know what I’m saying? And I’m ok. He’s in the back crying somewhere, probably. It’s always going to be more and until people start saying that and representing for that, I don’t even know what you’re doing this for. And if you don’t think like that, you don’t work hard enough. It’s like, I put it on the line. I could have either been here or a retired fighter coaching fighters. I think getting in here and fighting is a good cause for causing a scene and spitting out what I feel I deserve. If you’re not spitting what you feel you deserve and you’re ok with it, then you’re not working hard enough.”

By the Numbers: UFC 202

The sequel was even better than the original. Conor McGregor avenged a March loss to Nate Diaz in an epic rematch in the UFC 202 headliner at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday night, capturing a hard-fought majority decision triumph. It wasn’t the customary McGregor victory, however, as he started quickly, then weathered a relentless Diaz to find a second wind down the stretch. With such a memorable five-round clash comes plenty of facts and figures to review. Here is a by-the-numbers look at UFC 202, with statistics courtesy of FightMetric.com. UFC 202 Bonuses: McGregor, Diaz, Johnson, Cerrone Receive $50K Awards

Although the “Fight of the Night” bonus only represents a fraction of their total earnings at UFC 202 , for Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz , the honor was well deserved. McGregor and Diaz pocketed $50,000 apiece for their headlining welterweight bout at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday night. Eventually, their rematch will likely be up for “Fight of the Year,” as well. McGregor stormed out of the gates, dropping his foe three times in the first two frames. Diaz rallied in typical fashion, however, and he kept the pressure on his opponent for the full 25 minutes. This time, McGregor had enough left in reserve to win a majority decision. Meanwhile, Anthony Johnson made a resounding case for another light heavyweight title shot against Daniel Cormier , as he knocked out Glover Teixeira in 13 seconds in the evening’s co-headliner. In addition to making a statement at 205 pounds, “Rumble” received a $50,000 “Performance of the Night” award for his powerful uppercut KO. Finally, Donald Cerrone continued his successful foray at 170 pounds, as he garnered the evening’s other $50,000 “Performance of the Night” check for his second-round TKO of Rick Story in a featured contest.

Bundu (33-1-2, 12 KOs) will be the most experienced opponent that Spence will have faced up to this point in his career and has won two straight since losing to reigning WBA champion Keith Thurman almost two years ago. Conor McGregor Calls for Trilogy Bout with Nate Diaz on ‘His Terms’ at 155 Pounds

If Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz are to have a rubber match, the “Notorious” one would like to dictate the terms of that bout. McGregor avenged a March defeat to Diaz in the UFC 202 headliner on Saturday night, taking a hard-fought majority decision over his rival in a “Fight of the Year” candidate. While a trilogy seems almost inevitable, McGregor doesn’t plan on facing Diaz at 170 pounds again. “I want to go back down. I’m the 145-pound champion. The 155-pound [title] is there. When I fight Nate again it will be 155 pounds,” McGregor told media after the fight. “It will be on my terms this time. I came up and I didn’t make any excuses or any stipulations to try and get this win back. I had it exactly the way it was previously. “He got even bigger from the first fight. He was way bigger than the last time. Over that five months since the last fight [at UFC 196] he grew,” McGregor continued. “I knew what I was up against, and I was thinking in my head maybe this could be a mistake…I believe if we do it again it will be 155.

Donald Cerrone, Dana White Have Differing Views on Potential Return to Lightweight

If the end result is like this, Donald Cerrone probably wouldn’t mind having “off” days on fight night a little more frequently. Despite admittedly not feeling his best, “Cowboy” won his third straight bout at 170 pounds at UFC 202 on Saturday night, defeating Rick Story via technical knockout 2:02 into the second frame at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The Jackson-Wink MMA stalwart looked to be in top form from the beginning, but he really began to pick Story apart in the round two. There, Cerrone attacked with kicks to the legs and body as well as punches to the head to keep his opponent on the defensive before putting Story away with a multi-strike combination punctuated by a head kick and follow-up punches. “I woke up with the worst headache I’ve ever had in my life. Today was just one of those off days,” Cerrone said on Fox Sports 1. “I was telling my coach, ‘I don’t feel it. I don’t have the fire.’ We train everyday, you train to beat someone on your worst day. I was in the back just like grinding and trying to find first gear and just couldn’t do it.

Conor McGregor not sold on Jose Aldo rematch; hints at opportunity outside the UFC

"How long was I going back and forth with Jose? That must have been a two-year build up. He pulled out last minute. I continued to fight someone else. Then we rescheduled, two-year round-the-world deal with that boy and then he stepped in and I beat him in 13 seconds," McGregor said following the close of UFC 202.  "It's hard for me to get excited about that, especially after his last performance. It was a decision, he didn't go out and get it. He didn't go out and get it like I wanted him to get it. So I don't know, we'll see.

Conor McGregor to Earn $3 Million, Nate Diaz $2 Million for Headlining Bout at UFC 202

Conor McGregor has raised the bar once again. According to salary figures released by the Nevada Athletic Commission, McGregor will earn $3 million for his headlining showdown with Nate Diaz at UFC 202 , the largest disclosed payday in the history of the Las Vegas-based promotion. That figure tops the record of $2.5 million set by Brock Lesnar at UFC 200 on July 9. Diaz, meanwhile, will earn $2 million for the welterweight bout. Neither McGregor nor Diaz will receive a win bonus. Both fighters have received a significant raise from their first meeting: McGregor earned a then record $1 million purse for his second-round submission loss to Diaz at UFC 196 on March 5. In victory, Diaz pocketed a flat salary of $500,000. As usual, the figures do not account for pay-per-view points or any performance-based or discretionary bonuses a fighter might receive. They also do not account for any deductions made by the commission for taxes, insurance, etc., and do not include any sponsorship money that a fighter may acquire for their performance.

Nate Diaz Says Knee, Rib Injuries Hindered Training Ahead of McGregor Rematch

A vacation in Mexico and only 10 days to prepare couldn’t stop Nate Diaz from defeating Conor McGregor at UFC 196. The second time around, the Stockton, Calif., native had a full camp to prepare for McGregor, but he came up short in the UFC 202 headliner, falling via majority decision in a fight that exceeded its considerable hype. Diaz appeared to have the Irishman reeling on a couple occasions in the bout, but ultimately McGregor was able to survive and improve upon his prior performance. Still, the Cesar Gracie protege thought he did enough to get the nod from the cageside judges at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. “I thought I won the fight. I got paid, so it’s all good,” said Diaz, who earned a disclosed $2 million in defeat. “He did a lot of running in that fight. He ran the whole fight. I feel like they should’ve took points for that. On top of me winning anyways, they should’ve took points, which wouldn’t have let him win the fight.” While Diaz did have more time to train for McGregor, his UFC 202 camp was not without its difficulties.
