UFC Fight Night 48 results: 'TUF: China' champ Zhang Lipeng handles Brendan O'Reilly

Lipeng, though, got a clear edge in the second round. While clinched against the cage, he landed some clean shots before wrapping his opponent’s hips, draggingO’Reilly to the mat, landing some ground and pound, and transitioning to his back. Lipeng’s body triangle was tight, and he threatened with a rear-naked choke, but O’Reilly survived to make it to the final frame.

Donavon Winters vs. Jordon Larson Round 1 Winters and Larson touch gloves in the center of the cage. Crisp striking on the outside from Winters, but his range is a bit short early. Larson gets taken down and fights off a brabo choke before getting to his feet. Larson quickly trips him back up and moves to the mount. Larson is landing hard rights to the side of his opponent’s head. Larson switches hands and blasts away with his left. He alternates and is landing frequently from the mount. Winters gives up his back and the beating commences. Both hands are touching the face of Winters. Showing heart, Winters weathers the storm and slips out the back door to take the top position. Winters throws a few fatigued shots and is quickly reversed. Larson slickly moves to side control, where he secures another brabo choke. It fails. Larson works for a single and is forced to fight off a guillotine. Nice round. 10-9 Larson. Round 2 Winters counters a quick tie-up attempt and then is taken down by Larson against the fencing. Half guard for Larson with Winters trapped with his head to the cage.

John Morgan reacts to Michael Bisping's win over Cung Le at UFC Fight Night 48

MACAU – MMAjunkie lead staff reporter John Morgan gives his instant reaction to Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 48 main event between middleweights  Michael Bisping and Cung Le .

UFC Fight Night: Bisping vs. Le results and post-fight analysis

"New" Dong Hyun Kim is fun to watch, he's scored some good wins, but I think deep down inside everyone knew that his recklessness was 100% unsustainable and in no way good enough for him to be a serious title contender. A better fighter, especially one with KO power, was going to come along and shut his lights off, and Woodley beautifully countered that ill-fated spinning attempt. It probably closes the door on Kim as a title contender, but he's at least transformed himself into an action fighter who is a gatekeeper for guys who want to prove themselves as being worthy of a top 10 ranking.

11 UFC, Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) News, Results, Fighting reports from the BOK Center in Tulsa, Okla., at approximately 7:30 p.m. ET with live UFC Fight Night “Henderson vs. Dos Anjos” updates.

Rafael dos Anjos on Benson Henderson: "I see a lot of holes in his game"

"I think I'm stronger than him. I've been in the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu world a long time, I've been training since I was nine years old and I earned my black belt when I was 20 years old so I've had nine years as a black belt.  I see a lot of holes in his game and I'm going to take advantage of that," dos Anjos said.

Mirko ‘Cro Cop’ Slices Satoshi Ishii, ‘Minowaman’ Falls at Inoki Genome Fight 2

Mirko “Cro Cop” got a win in his old stomping grounds on Saturday | File photo: TJ De Santis/ Mirko Filipovic used one sharp elbow strike to avoid becoming the latest addition to Satoshi Ishii ’s collection of veteran scalps. The 39-year-old “Cro Cop” claimed the IGF championship from Japan’s top heavyweight by way of second-round doctor stoppage in the main event of Inoki Genome Fight 2 on Saturday at Ryogoku Kokugikan hall in Tokyo. Ishii sought to avoid the Croatian southpaw’s strikes early on and eventually used a caught leg kick to bring Filipovic to the ground. Once there, Cro Cop absorbed a few heavy left hands but mostly canceled out Ishii’s offense with effective wrist control. A slicing elbow from underneath opened a bloody cut in the center of Ishii’s hairline, prompting referee Ryogaku Wada to twice pause the action so Ishii could be inspected by the ringside physician. Perhaps sensing an imminent stoppage, Ishii attempted to mount some standup offense at the start of the second frame.

Georges St. Pierre says he will never return to the UFC without independent drug testing

BE: You've obviously been vocal about performance enhancing drugs in the UFC. Another Tristar guy, Mark Bocek , recently retired and cited not wanting to compete against guys who are on PEDs any longer, so the situation is impacting some other fighters and their willingness to continue to compete. Obviously the VADA thing fell through from the Hendricks side in your last fight, but it seemed like you were wanting to push toward a place where your fights were as heavily tested as you could get them. Were you to return to the UFC, would you consider some sort of condition that you would only compete with expanded testing for you and your opponent through an organization like VADA or USADA?

Joby Sanchez Would Have Retired From MMA Had He Not Reached UFC by Age 25

Joby Sanchez makes his UFC debut against Wilson Reis on Saturday. | Jeff Sherwood/ Don’t tell Joby Sanchez that he should have postponed his golden opportunity. The Jackson-Wink MMA flyweight prospect makes his Octagon debut on Saturday against Wilson Reis at UFC Fight Night Tulsa – just 16 days after he stopped WEC veteran Antonio Banuelos in the second round at Tachi Palace Fights 20 “Night of Champions.” Sanchez was originally expected to face Matt Manzanares for the Resurrection Fighting Alliance 125-pound title on Sept. 12 in his hometown of Albuquerque. A win in RFA, a promotion which has established itself as a consistent pipeline to the UFC, likely would have punched Sanchez’s ticket to the big time. However, his learning curve instantly accelerated when Tim Elliott suffered an injury and had to withdraw from his bout against Reis. Too soon? Not even close. “I thought if I was to win the RFA fight, I thought for sure I was going to get the call. I was surprised to get the call so soon,” Sanchez told Sherdog.

Dana White, Nate Diaz mend fences over ‘very rough night,' still far apart on new deal

"We'll see what happens," White said. "You know, we were out having fun, we talked business for a little while. We got together in a room, and where he is and where we are, we're not even close. But I've said it before and I'll say it again, I've always liked Nate Diaz, I've always had a great relationship with Nate Diaz. It's not like I don't like the kid and he's hard to deal with. He's just got something in his head and we've got something else in our head."

UFC Fight Night Results: ‘Henderson vs. Dos Anjos’ Play-by-Play & Updates

Benson Henderson vs. Rafael dos Anjos Round 1 Veteran official “Big” John McCarthy is the referee for tonight’s lightweight main event, with judges Derek Cleary, Chris Lee and Cardo Urso scoring at cageside. Dos Anjos strikes first with a kick to Henderson’s chest, and the ex-champ replies with a hard low kick as the southpaws test the range. Henderson gets through with a right hook, answered by a straight shot down the center. Dos Anjos takes a body blow, rips back with a right hook to Henderson’s gut and a low kick to follow. A low kick from Henderson chops the base out from under dos Anjos, who quickly returns to his feet and hits Henderson with a loud body kick. Henderson is on the outside, pumping his jab to keep dos Anjos from pressing out from the center. Dos Anjos catches Henderson with a leaping knee, stuffs a double-leg attempt and cracks “Smooth” with a searing left hook on the jaw. Henderson goes limp and referee McCarthy steps in to wave off the fight before dos Anjos can do any further damage. Henderson isn’t pleased with the stoppage, but McCarthy insists that “he went out.

Dana White on contract with Gina Carano: 'I think we're close'

Carano last fought five years ago in Strikeforce, and has since pursued an acting career in Hollywood. Earlier this year the 32-year old Carano made it known that she was contemplating a return to fighting, which prompted the UFC to begin talks. Questions as to whether Carano could make the 135-pound limit surfaced, as well as cries about the meritocracy within the division. Rousey herself said that she would welcome a fight with Carano, should she sign with the UFC.

27 Bisping's Back - The Count Halts Le in Four

> Watch: Fight Night Macao on UFC FIGHT PASS! Le wasn’t done yet though, and he aggressively pursued “The Count” to begin round three, and it was clear that there was still plenty of snap behind his kicks. For his part, Bisping was patient in his attack, making sure to not walk into anything that could end his night. Le landed a hard left hook with a little under two minutes to go, but Bisping responded with a volume of strikes, keeping things from getting out of hand in his opponent’s favor. In the fourth, Bisping closed the show, landing with more and more shots on the fatigued Le, and then dropping him with a left knee to the head. A follow-up barrage of shots ended matters, with Sharp stepping in at the :57 of the round. Now Bisping has his sights set on a bout with fellow contender Luke Rockhold , who he has had words with on social media in recent weeks. “I’m gonna beat Luke Rockhold and then I’m taking the title,” said Manchester, England’s Bisping. With the win, the 35-year-old Bisping improves to 26-6; the 42-year-old Le, who was fighting for the first time since November of 2012, falls to 9-3.

UFC Fight Night Results: ‘Bisping vs. Le’ Play-by-Play & Updates

Michael Bisping vs. Cung Le Round 1 Sherdog Scores Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Bisping Mike Fridley scores the round 10-9 Le Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Bisping Round 2 Bisping throws his jab-right cross immediately, just missing with the latter. Le looks for a spinning attack in retaliation, but Bisping lances him right a right hand. A Bisping jab makes Le squint his right eye and wince, so Bisping tags him with another. Le motions to referee John Sharp that he was poked, but it appeared to be a clean jab. More importantly, “The Count” doesn't care and continues to swarm with jabs and right hands. Bisping is really starting to land with frequency, and his right hands have opened a cut at the corner of Le's left eye. As soon as Bisping sees the blood, he ups his output even more. “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 3 light heavyweight winner keeps coming in behind his jab, putting more and more hooks and uppercuts together. John Sharp waits for Le to circle out of another Bisping combination, then calls for a doctor check. The blood flow is considerable, but the cageside doctor permits it to continue.

Tate has an innate instinct for public relations, with magazine articles and TV appearances outside of the standard fight fare. She is a perfect signee for Harvick, who himself is a crossover draw for those not so avid car fans. She calls it the “best thing I’ve done in my career.” That might be true in another savvy step to promote her career and what extends past it. Tate is still at the top of her game, and all the while effortlessly moving in circles outside the octagon. Harvick said his wife pushed for the signing of Tate to reach a “younger demographic.” Something that has dwindled from NASCAR, but soars in MMA.

UFC Fight Night 49's Rafael dos Anjos patient when it comes to title shots

Dos Anjos (21-7 MMA, 10-5 UFC) and Henderson (21-3 MMA, 9-1 UFC) meet in tonight’s UFC Fight Night 49 main event, and while dos Anjos is a heavy underdog, he said he has felt no pressure ahead of his first UFC main event – 16 fights into his career with the company.

Brian Ortega Apologizes for Failed Drug Test at UFC on Fox 12

Brian Ortega apologized for failing a drug test at UFC on Fox 12. | Jeff Sherwood/ Brian Ortega took to Instagram on Saturday to apologize for his failed drug test following UFC on Fox 12 in San Jose, Calif., on July 26. The California State Athletic Commission revealed on Friday that Ortega tested positive for the anabolic steroid drostanalone after his victory over Mike de la Torre in a featherweight bout. The former Resurrection Fighting Alliance champion was suspended for nine months and fined $2,500, pending an appeal. His win was changed to a no contest. “In preparation for my UFC debut, I used a banned substance called drostanalone. It was an irresponsible decision that I will regret for the rest of my life. I apologize to my family, friends, fans, the UFC and everyone else who was affected by my selfish actions,” Ortega wrote. “It should be known that my coaches were totally unaware of my decisions, and I am ashamed that I let down the people who believed in me more than I believed in myself.

Boxing News: Bernard Hopkins to Fight Undefeated Sergey Kovalev on Nov. 8

49-year-old Bernard Hopkins will fight undefeated Sergey Kovalev at Boardwalk Hall, in Atlantic City, N.J. on Nov. 8. The 12-round bout will serve as a unification fight for Hopkins' WBA, IBF 175-pound crown and Kovalev's WBO light heavyweight title. Co-promoters of the fight, Main Events and Golden Boy Promotions, announced the finalization of the matchup on Friday. The bout will be broadcast by HBO. Kovalev was in action on Aug. 2 against Blake Caparello, knocking his opponent out in the second round. The fight pushed his overall record to 25-0-1, with 23 knockouts. “Krusher” will be defending his title for the fourth time since he definitively dispelled of Nathan Cleverly in Wales last August. Hopkins will come into the bout with a record of 55-6-2, with 32 knockouts to his name. The oldest boxer ever to win a world title has undergone a career resurgence since defeating Tavoris Cloud, Karo Murat and Beibut Shumenov in his last three fights to claim the IBF and WBA light heavyweight titles. The fight will serve as Hopkins’ 19th overall in Atlantic City, while Kovalev has fought within the city limits on three consecutive occasions.

White says Gina Carano deal 'close,' expects to know more in September

“There are very few women that have had one-punch knockout power,” Rousey explained. “There are other girls that they overwhelm the other person. They get TKOs and stuff like that. But Gina has one-punch knockout power, and that’s the kind of person that I have to be the most cautious of. That’s the style that’s the worst for me, and ever since the beginning, I’ve been positive that Gina is the worst style matchup for me.”

UFC pulled judge from Macau event after first two fights

Pulling the judge from this card continues the UFC's generally solid history of policing it's events well (usually suspending and fining fighters) when running it's own shop. Hopefully this action toward one of their own privately appointed judges will cause them to give their in house process even more scrutiny, especially when it comes to deciding which officials to take with them. It's unknown at this time if either Phillips or Zhikui will receive their win bonus following their fights, but considering the circumstances, both fighters have every right to argue for it.

Lee Mein Banned from UFC Fight Night Tulsa Following Arrest for Alleged Sexual Assault

Lee Mein was arrested for sexual assault in Tulsa, Okla. | Jacob Bos/ Prior to Jordan Mein tipping the scales in Tulsa, Okla., on Friday, his father, Lee Mein , was arrested on a charge of sexual battery. As a result of the arrest, the Ultimate Fighting Championship has barred Mein from attending his son’s bout at UFC Fight Night "Henderson vs. dos Anjos." UFC officials addressed the development in a statement on Saturday. “We were made aware that James Lee Mein, father of UFC competitor Jordan Mein, was arrested on allegations of felony sexual assault,” the statement reads. “Mr. Mein is accused of sexually assaulting a housekeeper at the UFC’s host hotel in Tulsa, Okla. The UFC finds the allegations against Mr. Mein deplorable, and we fully support local law enforcement in its investigation. The UFC is also prohibiting Mr. Mein from attending tonight’s event should he post bail. Jordan Mein will remain on tonight’s card.” Police records show that Lee Mein was arrested at 3:30 p.m. and subsequently booked at 5:59 p.

Dana White on Nate Diaz: 'Where he is and where we are, we're not even close'

“Where he is and where we are – we’re not even close,” White told MMAjunkie following UFC Fight Night 48 in Macau. “I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I’ve always liked Nate Diaz. Acting as Own Commission in Macau, UFC Removes Judge at Fight Night ‘Bisping vs. Le’

Elizabeth Phillips felt she was robbed in Macau on Saturday. | James Goyder/ An unnamed judge was relieved of cageside duties following what the Ultimate Fighting Championship deemed as questionable scoring during the two opening bouts of UFC Fight Night "Bisping vs. Le." The UFC, which serves as its own athletic commission when holding events outside of the United States, made the decision following Milana Dudieva against Elizabeth Phillips and Royston Wee versus Zhuikui Yao . Dudieva defeated Phillips via split decision, while Wee captured a split verdict over Yao. UFC President Dana White confirmed the decision during the event’s post-fight press conference. "Did you ask me sir, if it was true, that a judge was removed?" White said. "Yes, he was. He was involved in the first fight and the second fight. I told the guys to go let him grab some beer and some popcorn and go sit down and start watching some fights, not judging them." While the judging decision in Wee vs. Zhuikui is much more open to debate, the women’s bout was almost universally panned.

Thales Leites reinventing himself in the UFC, welcomes brawl with Francis Carmont

"I don’t know if I’ll be at the top 10 with a win (over Carmont) because it’s really close. There are a lot of fight cards, so the top 10 and top 15 rankings change a lot all the time," he said. "It depends on who you beat, how you win. My goal is not to be at the top 10, my goal is to win no matter what and make some noise in the UFC.
