Opinion: Tyron Woodley, Champion, Shot Caller, Possible Genius
Even if you're not a Tyron Woodley fan, the worst you can say about the UFC's new welterweight champion is that he wants to fight a legend in the biggest possible fight and payday he could ever reasonably dream of and that he enjoys getting to spite his boss. Who doesn't want to be rich, famous and spite our employer?

California-based Bellator
MMA announced Thursday that a women's flyweight bout between
Anastasia
Yankova and Veta
Arteaga has been added to
Bellator 161 . The event goes down Sept. 16 at the HEB Center in
Cedar Park, Texas.
The matchup bolsters a main card that features a heavyweight main

Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran Cheick Kongo
against Tony
Johnson .
Yankova was impressive earlier this year in her Bellator debut when
she scored a first-round armbar at Bellator 152. She takes on a
streaking Arteaga, who has won two consecutive battles. Bellator
will unveil a full undercard, as well as the remainder of the main

Tyron
Woodley ’s first-round knockout of Robbie
Lawler at UFC
201 made him the seventh new
Ultimate Fighting Championship titleholder in less than a year.
As someone who was considered undeserving of a title shot, Woodley
adds his name to a growing list of underdogs who have emphatically
proved the naysayers wrong.
Does this recent string of title changes and unpredictability bode
well for the UFC in the long run? Sure, it’s fun to see that
anybody can beat a world champion on any given night; and that
hasn’t been clearer than in the past year, as world champions have
fallen at a frightening rate against opponents that few thought
could usurp them. However, is there any such thing as an “upset”
anymore considering how frequently titles have been changing hands?
Do the titles mean much of anything anymore considering that nobody
can hang on to them long enough to establish themselves as true
champions? What we love about mixed martial arts can also be its
biggest detriment: unpredictability.

Tuesday's session at the Association of Boxing Commissions’ annual
convention was surreal at best and chaotic at worst. A committee of
regulators, fighters and referees put in hours and hours of work to
come up with a list of modifications to the Unified Rules of MMA
and those proposals were whittled down to a smaller set of changes
by the medical advisory committee, comprised of some of the top
ringside physicians in the country. These changes were set to be
voted on Tuesday in Las Vegas.
It seemed like a simple task but if I’ve learned anything over the
last seven years I’ve been attending the ABC's annual conference,
it's that whenever you get a bunch of regulators in one room, be
prepared for the unexpected.
When the voting members were asked if they were ready to call for a
motion, California's Executive Officer Andy Foster
asked for a 10-minute recess.

analyzing recently disclosed purses in both MMA and boxing, he and
Breen discuss his findings after comparing reported paydays in
California, Florida and Nevada last year, the impact Floyd
Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao have on the average boxing purse,
the curious way in which the UFC inflates mid-tier fighter salaries
against market value and what impact the Muhammad Ali Act would
have on the politics of fighter pay if adopted for MMA.
Breen and Nash also talk about the concept of competition between
promoters in both MMA and boxing, the surprising fact that the
UFC's ostensible competition aren't actually competing against the
industry leader the way that people think and how boxing's plethora
of sanctioning bodies and proliferation of “world titles” actually
helps boxers make big bank.

Fedor vs. Cro Cop 2 in September?
It was one of the greatest heavyweight fights in the history of
mixed martial arts. But as shocking as it is, in a sport loaded
with rematches, all-time greats Fedor
Emelianenko and Mirko
Filipovic only went toe-to-toe once, with “The Last Emperor”
taking a unanimous decision in 2005.
But even though both men are well past their physical primes, it
appears as though "Cro Cop" and Emelianenko could lock horns again.
According to a new poster from Japanese promotion
Rizin Fighting Federation , Fedor and Cro Cop are likely
participants in a rematch on Sep. 25. The league has previously
announced an open-weight tournament for the event.
There are no details whatsoever regarding the proposed fight, other
than the heavyweights' likeness plastered all over the poster.
The heavyweight popularly known as “Cro Cop” announced his
retirement late last year before he was to face Anthony
Hamilton at UFC Fight Night in Seoul, citing a shoulder injury
that left him unable to raise his arm. Shortly thereafter, it was
revealed that Filipovic had been flagged for an anti-doping
violation.

Chi Lewis-Parry to Fight Xavier Vigney at Glory 33 in New Jersey
The Glory
33 card, which is slated for Sep. 9 in New Jersey, has just
been bolstered by an intriguing heavyweight showdown. Chi
Lewis-Parry (7-1, 3 KOs) will clash with Xavier Vigney (10-1, 8
KOs) and serve as the co-headlining bout of the Glory 33 SuperFight
Series undercard.
Vigney took out Lewis-Parry in San Diego last May in the final
round of the one-night four-man Heavyweight Qualification
Tournament. “Chopper” would like nothing more than to exact revenge
on “X-Man” and he’ll get his chance next month.
Also announced for the Glory 33 SuperFight Series undercard is a
welterweight skirmish between Francois
Ambang and Daniel
Morales in a rematch; “Bang Bang” won their first encounter. A
140-pound showdown between Rami
Ibrahim and David Moore
was also revealed.
The Glory 33 SuperFight Series undercard will be anchored by the
middleweight championship where Simon Marcus (44-2-2, 24 KOs) will
defend his crown against Jason Wilnis (28-6-1, 7 KOs). Zoila
Frausto will oppose Daniela Graf in a Super Bantamweight Grand
Prix quarterfinal duel as well.

Sultan Aliev Injured, Bounced from UFC 202
It looks like Sultan
Aliev will not be fighting on the massive UFC
202 card later this month. According to a report from
MMAJunkie, a wrist injury has derailed the Russian middleweight and
Aliev has been removed from the event, leaving Hyun Gyu
Lim currently without an opponent.
Aliev was hoping to bounce back from a dreadful
Ultimate Fighting Championship debut in January where Kenny
Robertson knocked him out in the first. “The Ace” was looking
to get back on track as well as Lim fell short in in his most
recent Octagonal appearance. The South Korean was stopped by
Neil
Magny at UFC Fight Night 66 and has lost two of his last
three.
The mega event goes down Aug. 20 in Las Vegas in the new T-Mobile
Arena, the site of the blockbuster UFC 200 card. The grudge rematch
between reigning featherweight champion Conor
McGregor and Nate Diaz will
anchor the festivities, though they will meet in a non-title bout
at welterweight.
Fan favorite Donald
Cerrone will lock horns with Rick Story
and Anthony “Rumble” Johnson will oppose Glover
Teixeira in a pivotal light heavyweight affair.

Preview: UFC Fight Night ‘Rodriguez vs. Caceres’ - Rodriguez vs. Caceres
As it builds towards the crescendo of UFC
202 and the Conor
McGregor - Nate Diaz
rematch in a matter of weeks, the
Ultimate Fighting Championship hands the torch to one of its
most promising young featherweights.
The once-beaten Yair
Rodriguez will meet Alex
Caceres in the UFC Fight Night 92 main event on Saturday at the
Vivint Smart Home Arena in Salt Lake City. In the featherweight
co-headliner, Dennis
Bermudez collides with “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil” Season 1
winner Rony
Mariano Bezerra . The rest of the six-fight main card features a
welterweight clash pitting Santiago
Ponzinibbio against Zak
Cummings , a women’s strawweight affair matching Maryna
Moroz with Danielle
Taylor and a pair of middleweight battles, as Thales
Leites locks horns with Chris
Camozzi and Trevor
Smith squares off with Joseph
Gigliotti .
Let us take a closer look at each
UFC Fight Night “Rodriguez vs. Caceres” matchup, with analysis
and picks:
Featherweights
Yair
Rodriguez (7-1) vs. Alex
Caceres (12-8)
THE MATCHUP: Rodriguez is for many people the most
exciting prospect in the featherweight division; and while Max
Holloway might take issue with that, the reasons for
Rodriguez’s rapidly growing fanbase are more than clear.

Sherdog.com’s WMMA Pound-for-Pound Top 10
At 115 pounds, unbeaten fighters are staying unbeaten. At 135
pounds, no one can hang onto the
Ultimate Fighting Championship title. In either case, we've got
significant movement on the women's pound-for-pound list.
At UFC 201 in Atlanta, Karolina
Kowalkiewicz seized the moment, co-headlining a pay-per-view in
just her third UFC appearance in a de facto title eliminator
against the offensively gifted Rose
Namajunas . Kowalkiewicz took the clinch to exploit Namajunas,
earning a well-deserved split decision victory and solidifying
herself as the next challenger for fellow unbeaten Polish
115-pounder Joanna
Jedrzejczyk in a bout that would be both a historic strawweight
clash, as well as a new pinnacle for Polish mixed martial arts.
With her biggest win to date, Kowalkiewicz rises in these rankings
from 10th to fifth.
Of course, Kowalkiewicz's rapid rise through these pound-for-pound
rankings wouldn't have been possible without the events that
transpired one week earlier in Chicago, where underdog Valentina
Shevchenko outclassed former UFC women's bantamweight champ
Holly
Holm for the final four rounds to earn the biggest win of her
own career, leap forward in UFC 135-pound contendership and take
the seventh spot on our list.

These Sexy Yet Tasteful Nude Celeb Photos Are the Only Things You Need to See Today
Back in the days of Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci, the female nude was considered a classy work of art. As the years progressed, the classy and artistic value seemed to disintegrate as institutions like Playboy and Hustler co-opted the female form to please the gaze of horny males. In other words, trashy nude celebrity photos replaced the fine works of classical artists. However, there are a few diamonds in the rough. These tasteful portraits of beautiful celebs harken back to an earlier time. Don't worry though. You'll still get horny looking at them. Also, July 14th is National Nude Day, so we need to pre-game that, right?

Why MMA Should Be In The Olympics
Finally, the addition of MMA would be the pinnacle of combat sports at the Olympics. The historical importance of combat sports at the Olympics cannot be understated. If you look at the ancient games, they could essentially be broken down into track and field events and wrestling. Now that wrestling is out of the games, there needs to be a new face for combat sports. Boxing is losing popularity on an international scale and I'm not sure if judo or karate could ever fully hold the attention of an Olympic audience. MMA could fill that void by incorporating elements of all fighting disciplines into a single event. Maybe we can hope for the 2024 games to not only be in Los Angeles, but to maybe add a new event as well.

Nick Diaz because he was a bigger draw. Think about Frankie Edgar. Completely wiped out the division. Did he get an immediate shot against Conor? Or was Conor able to jump weight classes? And then when that falls through, he gets to go and fight Nate Diaz. Loses the fight, is still the champion and rematches the guy.

Daniel Jacobs to Defend Middleweight Title in Rematch with Sergio Mora
Premier Boxing Champions announced on Thursday that
middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs will defend his title against
Sergio Mora on Sep. 9. The action will go down at Santander Arena
in Reading, Penn.
Spike TV will televise the event beginning at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT,
with the telecast kicking off with a lightweight bout as Robert
Easter Jr. (17-0, 14 KOs) takes on Richard Commey (24-0, 22 KOs).
Also on the card, heavyweight contender Travis "My Time" Kauffman
(30-1, 22 KOs) will be featured in a 10-round fight.
Jacobs and Mora first fought in August 2015 in a brawl that saw
both men hit the canvas in round one. Mora was floored by a Jacobs
right hand but the crafty veteran recovered, only to drop Jacobs
with a clean left. "The Latin Snake" was felled again in the second
but he suffered a broken ankle and was defeated by TKO.
"This is business for me, but it is also more personal than any
fight I have ever had," said Jacobs. "Sergio has been using these
antics online to get this rematch and he has gotten under my skin.
There has been a lot of back and forth as far as people's opinions
