Floyd Mayweather Explains How Conor McGregor Has Every Advantage Over Him |

Floyd Mayweather seems to think Conor McGregor has a better shot of beating him than almost all of the 49 opponents he's already faced. The undefeated boxer who came out of retirement to face McGregor on Aug. 26 touted all the reasons why the current UFC lightweight champion should be favored to defeat him when they step into the ring together in less than three weeks time. Despite McGregor having no professional boxing experience and many experts believing he will get outclassed by Mayweather over 12 rounds, the former multi-division champion seems to think otherwise…or at least that's what he's saying. "He's very gifted," Mayweather said about McGregor when speaking to ESPN. "I want to say this — he's a lot younger. When you look at the two on paper, when you look at myself and you look at Conor McGregor on paper, he's taller, has longer reach, he's a bigger man from top to bottom. A lot younger, so youth is on his side and I've been off a couple years. "Now I'm in my 40's. So if you

Georges St. Pierre Signs Bout Agreement to Fight Michael Bisping at UFC 217

Finally signing my UFC 217 Bout Agreement vs. Michael Bisping for Nov. 4th at MSG - Get ready for a big night in NYC!!! — Georges St-Pierre (@GeorgesStPierre) August 9, 2017 The middleweight championship showdown between Michael Bisping and Georges St. Pierre is one step closer to being finalized. St. Pierre on Wednesday posted a picture on Twitter of him signing the bout agreement to face “The Count” on Nov. 4 at Madison Square Garden in New York. “Finally signing my UFC 217 bout agreement vs. Michael Bisping for Nov. 4 at MSG – Get ready for a big night in NYC!!!” St. Pierre wrote. The former welterweight titlist has not competed since taking a split decision against Johny Hendricks at UFC 167 in November 2013. His return against Bisping was initially announced in March, but injury issues for both fighters nixed the promotion’s targeted summer date. The bout appeared to be off the table, and UFC President Dana White revealed that GSP would instead challenge for welterweight gold upon his return. However, White elected to revisit the booking following what he perceived to be a subpar performance by reigning 170-pound king Tyron Woodley in a victory over Demian Maia at UFC 214.

5 Things You Might Not Know About Jon Jones

Jon Jones once again sits atop the Ultimate Fighting Championship light heavyweight division, his transcendent talents casting an enormous shadow across an entire sport. “Bones” set aside his out-of-competition troubles, returned from a yearlong United States Anti-Doping Agency suspension and reclaimed the 205-pound championship in the UFC 214 main event, as he took care of archrival Daniel Cormier with a third-round head kick and follow-up punches on July 29 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. The 30-year-old Rochester, New York, native has rattled off 14 consecutive victories since being disqualified for using illegal 12-to-6 elbows on an overmatched Matt Hamill in December 2009, a staggering 11 of those wins coming in interim or undisputed title fights. Jones has taken out a long list of top-flight opposition, including six former UFC champions: Cormier, Vitor Belfort , Rashad Evans , Lyoto Machida , Quinton Jackson and Mauricio Rua . As he awaits his next challenge, here are five things you might not know about the two-time UFC light heavyweight titleholder: 1.

Former champion Johny Hendricks set to meet Brazil's Paulo Borrachinha at UFC 217

Borrachinha, in turn, comes impressive off back-to-back UFC wins – which cap off an undefeated professional record. The 25-year-old fighter followed a quick knockout over Garreth McLellan, at UFC Fight Night 106, with another TKO, this time over Oluwale Bamgbose, at June’s UFC 212. He has finished all of his fights to date.

The Bottom Line: Snoopcast and the Need for a More Adventurous Approach

Editor’s note: The views and opinions expressed below are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the views of, its affiliates and sponsors or its parent company, Evolve Media. * * * When UFC President Dana White finally got his Tuesday Night Contender Series greenlit, he needed some sort of hook to draw viewers towards the project. White had long desired to run regular Tuesday night fight cards, like USA’s Tuesday Night Fights series, but since the concept was originally pondered, the novelty of live fights has greatly diminished. With significant fights pretty much every weekend now, the new weekday series needs something to distinguish itself. Four weeks in, the Tuesday Night Contender Series has settled on an unusual calling card for differentiation: the Snoopcast. It was an idea that came completely out of left field, Snoop Dogg and Urijah Faber chilling, sipping on beverages and joking around as the fights are taking place. Quite frankly, it could have been an epic disaster, but it has a definite charm. Faber and Snoop are both genial presences and they seem to enjoy watching the fights together.

Sherdog’s Top 10: UFC Lightweight Title Fights - Top 10

Nine men have held the Ultimate Fighting Championship lightweight title since its inception in February 2001, from Jens Pulver , Sean Sherk , B.J. Penn and Frankie Edgar to Benson Henderson , Anthony Pettis , Rafael dos Anjos , Eddie Alvarez and Conor McGregor . Their respective reigns have resulted in some of the most memorable fights in UFC history. Despite Penn’s desire to go big-game hunting throughout his stellar but uneven career, no one has done more to raise the profile of what has become arguably the deepest weight class in the sport. The Hawaiian held the lightweight championship for a record 812 days, successfully defending it on three different occasions before relinquishing his hold on the throne. McGregor stands as the current standard bearer at 155 pounds, the charismatic Irishman having taken the sport by storm less than four years after he made his UFC debut. Featherweight Champ Cris ‘Cyborg’ Calls for UFC 219 Showdown vs. Holly Holm on Dec. 30

Cristiane Justino apparently has a one-track mind when it comes to her next opponent. On Tuesday, “Cyborg” followed up on her post-UFC 214 callout of Holly Holm , as she took to Instagram to request a Dec. 30 date with “The Preacher’s Daughter.” “I just called my manager…and told him I want to fight [ Holly Holm at] UFC 219 in Las Vegas,” Justino wrote. “If you want to see this fight New Year’s, now is the time to send your messages to [the UFC and Dana White]. Justino claimed the vacant 145-pound belt with a third-round technical knockout of former Invicta FC bantamweight queen Tonya Evinger on July 29. The 32-year-old Brazilian was initially scheduled to face Megan Anderson at the event in Anaheim, Calif., but Anderson was forced to withdraw from the bout due to undisclosed personal issues. Shortly after vanquishing Evinger, Justino set her sights on Holm, who skyrocketed to stardom with a second-round knockout of Ronda Rousey in November 2015. My next move I would like to fight Holly Holm . I think she is a great fighter, and she is a bigger girl like me,” Justino said.

Canelo Alvarez: Fight with Gennady Golovkin Can Be ‘One of the Best in History’

Though most of the fight world is focused on the ballyhooed megafight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Conor McGregor later this month, those who follow the fight game know that arguably the best possible boxing clash takes place on Sep. 16. Mexican superstar Saul “Canelo” Alvarez will square off against Kazakhstani powerhouse Gennady Golovkin, a matchup of the two best middleweights on the planet. The two will collide at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, with the action broadcast to the masses live via HBO Pay Per View and on Tuesday afternoon, Canelo spoke with assembled media via conference call. One of the sticking points going into this fight is the fact that “GGG” is not only undefeated with brutal punching power, it’s that the Mexican’s fists aren’t as lethal as his foe’s. Many boxing insiders are likely underestimating Canelo’s punching power, or least cooking up that narrative, but the Guadalajara native doesn’t necessarily buy into it, especially when asked if Team Golovkin could be ignoring Saul’s striking. “I don't think they're underestimating my power,” he told the media.

Paulie Maligaggi: Conor McGregor ‘Knew Better Than to Keep Me Around’

The fallout continues from Paulie Malignaggi’s brief stint as a sparring partner for Conor McGregor . The former boxing champion left McGregor’s camp last week after the UFC lightweight king posted a picture of himself standing over Malignaggi following a sparring session. Malignaggi then fired back on Twitter, claiming that he “beat [McGregor’s] ass” just 24 hours after getting off a flight and that the photo in question was the result of a push. After blasting the Irishman on Twitter, Malignaggi announced that he would be leaving McGregor’s camp . “The Notorious” one had enlisted the New Yorker to help him prepare for his Aug. 26 boxing match against Floyd Mayweather . On Tuesday, Malignaggi spoke to TMZ Sports to explain his side of the story. “I didn’t bring the beef onto myself. He put out the pictures,” Malignaggi said. “All I did was defend myself, you know? I’m a New Yorker, and nobody knows how to defend ourselves like real, true New Yorkers. You’re not gonna outtalk me. You’re going to get trashed if you don’t have the truth, and I have the truth. It comes down to that.
