Hi, my name is Randy and I am a 29 year old high school teacher and wrestling coach from Southern California. Unfortunately, I was recently diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiform (GBM) Grade 4. Around mid April, Southern California went through a series of heat waves. During that period, I began to experience headaches on a daily basis. I very rarely have headaches (1 or 2) a year, so I assumed they were just from my allergies. As the days went on, my headaches were getting worse and no over the counter medicine was relieving the pain. One day in the middle of May, I was driving on the freeway and had difficulties staying in my lane and my headaches were becoming unbearable, so I checked into urgent care. The physicians ordered a CTSCAN and found a mass tumor in my right parietal lobe of my brain. They then rushed me to another facility for Neurosurgery and operated on me the following day and my surgeon removed 90-95% of the Tumor. I felt like the worst was behind me and I was in the clear. A few days later my pathology test came back with the unfortunate news that I have GBM Grade 4, a form of cancer that is considered in the medical world to be incurable.

Randa Markos on Imprisonment, Abuse, and Her Road to TUF 20 | FIGHTLAND

The Markos family escaped, but that didn’t mean their struggles were over. Markos’ parents insisted on keeping a very traditional and strict household, which differed from what the children were seeing at school. While kids were out with friends or having sleepovers, Markos was forced to come straight home from school for chores and whatever else needed to be done. With little English spoken in the home, her parents were little help when it came to homework as well.

Women's MMA Superstar Waterson Ready For Big Stage

Michelle Waterson knew she was meant to be a fighter. Before the current Invicta atomweight (105 pounds) champion even stepped inside the cage, she knew. Waterson began her martial arts journey in karate and she enjoyed the artistry involved with that discipline. But she had a hunger for more hand-to-hand combat fighting. “I wanted to be able to say that I could fight. That I could do the combative side, too,” Waterson said Monday afternoon at Zuffa headquarters in Las Vegas. Fast forward more than seven years later and Waterson has not only become one of the top fighters in the sport, she’s one of the most recognizable female fighters in the world. She’s helped bring women’s MMA to new heights, and on Sept. 6 in Kansas City, Mo. she’ll make more history when she headlines the first-ever Invicta fight card on UFC FIGHT PASS. The top-ranked 105-pound Muay Thai expert said she couldn’t be more excited to help bring Invicta Fighting Championships – an all-pro women’s mixed martial arts fight series -- to a new audience on UFC FIGHT PASS.

Who picked Rory MacDonald's walkout music? For a time, not Rory MacDonald

"He had my old one and he texted, 'Hey Rory, what's your next entrance music?' This guy apparently pretended to be me because he knew who I was and he was picking my entrance music. I was like, 'Every time I come out to fight, I'm like why the hell is this playing? I didn't pick this.' It was so weird."

Renan Barao speaks out on weight cutting fiasco: ‘The whole problem is I got up too fast and I blacked out’

"The whole problem is I got up too fast and I blacked out, so that was the whole issue. [I cut] around 10 kilos. I'm very sad to not be fighting, this was a dream come true. I'm very disappointed and I want to come back and I want to face TJ. He's been saying a lot of things and I want to come and tear his head off. I'm disappointed to let down the UFC and all the fans who came out and I want to make [Dillashaw] eat everything he's been saying about me."

UFC 177: Dillashaw vs. Soto results - Fights to make for main card fighters

Joe Soto . Hats off to Soto for having occasional moments of success against the best bantamweight in the world. He was thrown into the spotlight under extreme circumstances, and while he was clearly losing and ultimately knocked out, I think he's shown enough improvement from his Bellator days to be a mainstay in the top 15 of the division. Soto deserves some sort of a "gimme" fight considering the nature of the Dillashaw fight, and I think Vaughan Lee is the perfect guy for him to dominate.

Sherdog’s Official Mixed Martial Arts Rankings - ‘Thrillashaw’ Rides Again

T.J. Dillashaw is making a habit of late, violent finishes. First, the Team Alpha Male product notched a fifth-round stoppage of Renan Barao in May to take the Brazilian’s bantamweight crown. On Aug. 30, in the makeshift main event of UFC 177 , Dillashaw used fancy footwork and lightning-fast punching combinations to outclass last-second challenger Joe Soto . The champion appeared to be cruising his way to a unanimous decision when, 2:20 into the final round, a vicious head kick and follow-up left hook put Soto down for the count. The knockout victory keeps Dillashaw firmly in place as the MMA world’s top 135-pounder. His previously scheduled rematch with Barao now nixed , Dillashaw could be looking at a second fight with Raphael Assuncao , who represents one of only two losses on the champion’s 13-bout ledger. Meanwhile, the best welterweight operating outside of the Octagon scored another impressive win, as Ben Askren captured the 170-pound crown in One Fighting Championship on Aug. 29. The former University of Missouri wrestler put an 84-second beatdown on Japanese slugger Nobutatsu Suzuki , then hit Twitter to call for a shot in the Octagon -- an idea to which UFC President Dana White seems to be warming.

UFC Fight Night: MacDonald vs. Saffiedine fight card

Would you believe that Rory MacDonald has been in the UFC since 2010 and has never fought in a main event? Well that ends this October, when MacDonald fights fellow welterweight contender Tarec Saffiedine in the UFC Fight Night Halifax headliner. Another big bout slated for this event is a bantamweight showdown between Raphael Assuncao and Bryan Caraway. It's likely that Assuncao will receive a title shot if he beats Caraway.

Superkombat Grand Prix brings kickboxing back to the Netherlands on September 27

European kickboxing organization Superkombat returns later this month with a very intriguing card. The Superkombat Grand Prix returns on September 27, and what is perhaps most interesting about the card is the location. Set to take place in Almere in the Netherlands, this will be the somewhat rare major international kickboxing event in the Netherlands since It's Showtime closed their doors. Long one of the hotbeds of the vibrant European kickboxing scene, the Netherlands began cracking down on kickboxing a few years ago due to its perceived ties to organized crime. Now, Superkombat brings the sport back to one of its homes, which will be great to see.

Bellator 123: Curran vs. Pitbull II fight card

Bellator kicks off a new season, their final "weekly event" schedule before new President Scott Coker implements his system next year, with a highly anticipated rematch between featherweight champion Pat Curran against Patricio Pitbull in the main event. Curran won their first meeting by split decision, and recently recaptured the featherweight crown with a stunning late submission win over Daniel Straus. The co-main event in Uncasville, Connecticut pits Cheick Kongo against Lavar Johnson in a battle of ex-UFC heavyweights. "King Mo" makes his return with a bout against short-notice replacement Dustin Jacoby, who won in Titan FC on August 22nd. Bobby Lashley makes his Bellator debut versus Josh Burns to round out the main card.

Video: Fowlkes concerned the UFC's 'crappy' cards aren't always going to be surprising hits

Well what do you know? It turns out UFC 177 might have actually been worth the cost of the pay-per-view. But does that mean every so-called “crappy” card will ultimately deliver on entertainment?

Gustafsson 'capable of KO'ing Jones', says GLORY heavyweight sparring partner

Heavyweight kickboxing contender Benjamin Adegbuyi first made contact with Alexander Gustafsson earlier this year when he was brought over to Sweden to provide some stand-up sparring power for the light-heavyweight’s fight with Jimi Manuwa. He says he was surprised by Gustafsson’s stand-up ability and believes the Swede is more than capable of stopping Jon Jones when they meet again in the Octagon.

Joe Rogan

“One of the most complex and exciting stand-ups working in America today.  Like an idealistic hippy stuck inside the body of a testosterone-pumped US marine.  He’s been likened to late great US comedians such as Bill Hicks and Sam Kinison, but although he exhibits a similar brand of furious indignation, his observations and revelations are entirely his own.  His angry, insightful act is an absorbing battle between his raw libertarian instincts and his refined liberal sensibilities.”   --William Cook, The Guardian   A standup comedian for more than 20 years, Joe Rogan sells out theaters internationally with his inquisitive and intense comedic style.  His third hour comedy special “Joe Rogan: Live from the Tabernacle” was released in December 2012 via his website.  Rogan previously starred in two hour long specials, “Talking Monkeys in Space” (2009) now available on CD & DVD and “Joe Rogan Live” (2007) now available on DVD, and released the CD’s “Shiny Happy Jihad” (2007) and “I’m Gonna Be Dead Someday” (2000).

Following third straight loss at UFC 177, Lorenz Larkin plans drop to welterweight

Lorenz Larkin  started his MMA career as a light heavyweight. He dropped to middleweight in 2012, but has found mixed results. From all indications, a move down to the welterweight division is next.

Ronda Rousey demands for Bethe Correia: I want that fight, I want it now

Ronda Rousey demanded to face Bethe Correia after beating her teammate at UFC 177, and Dana White told her to 'calm down'.

Consider UFC 177, the card that downgraded the paywall

The fact that UFC 177 played out as decent entertainment is moot; the UFC in the PPV model mode is based on prospect, not retrospect. Dillashaw came through and put Soto away spectacularly. Bethe Correia tenderized Shayna Baszler bodily and facially with her fists, and peeled back another finger to let everyone know another of the Four Horsewomen had been vanquished. Yancy Medeiros choked out Damon Jackson with a rarely seen reverse bulldog choke which sent jiu-jitsu aficionado Joe Rogan into the conniptions. All fine, but not in the way that matters. The way that matters in the PPV game is, "do I have to see this?" Capital is a finicky bastard. And it’s a diminishing number of people who will purchase a PPV on the blind, because so much UFC is now available for free, and so many fights fill the calendar, and inundation, even when we skew our faces at it, is still an affiliate word of indifference. The paywall that used to feel like a privilege to peek behind ( Chuck Liddell !) begins to feel like easy to figure out magic tricks on shows like UFC 177 (T.J. Dillashaw against Renan Ba…wait, Joe Soto!), just fun little fibs for ‘bout fitty bucks.

Women's MMA Report: Correia and Dudieva earn UFC wins, Swedes dominate at Cage Warriors 71

Andrade also began her MMA career at a young age. Debuting as a 19-year-old in September 2011, Andrade went on to win eight of her first 10 fights and she finished her opponents in all eight victories. In April 2013, she upset Milana Dudieva at ProFC 47 and earned a UFC contract in the process. Andrade’s Octagon debut ended in a disappointing defeat against former title challenger Liz Carmouche, but she has since bounced back with decision wins over Rosi Sexton and Raquel Pennington. A victory next month would move Andrade closer to a title shot.

Week-in-Review: List of UFC, Bellator & Other Fights Announced

A complete list of significant new fights reported in the past week.

Fortunes Changed for Five at UFC 177

Seeing Soto in a main event was an interesting story because years ago, when Jon Jones was an unknown, he talked about when he wrestled in junior college at Iowa Central, he didn't really know much about UFC. But his college roommate loved it. He noted the former roommate became a fighter. Soto seemed moved that he lived a dream of just fighting in the UFC, let alone going almost five rounds in a title fight. Fortunes changed for him, more than anyone. Still, the only thing for him now is to start back at the bottom. Stepping up may get him an extra chance if he stumbles, but even as a former Bellator champion, he is a beginning UFC fighter who is going to be a little better known than most.

The Walkmen: UFC 177 Walkout Songs

Twenty-four hours prior to his first Ultimate Fighting Championship title defense, everything in bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw ’s world was head kicked off its axis. With the entire UFC 177 fight card resting on his shoulders, Dillashaw stepped into the cage in a no-win situation on Saturday at the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, Calif., and saved another UFC pay-per-view from cancellation by accepting a last-minute opponent switch. Less than three months after springing one of the biggest upsets in UFC title-fight history, Dillashaw was tasked with avoiding being on the other end of a potential Cinderella story. When original title challenger Renan Barao was unable to cut weight successfully and instead found himself being jettisoned to the hospital, Dillashaw pulled company man duties and accepted UFC rookie Joe Soto as an 11th-hour stand-in. His opponent changed, his game plan changed and maybe his pregame meal changed, but Dillashaw’s first walkout as UFC champion remained the same. Off a Red Hot Chili Peppers album that was released when Dillashaw was 16 years old, “Can’t Stop” once again ushered the Team Alpha Male product to the cage.

That the legendary Four Horsemen never feuded with nobodies like Hardbody Harrison — and sure as hell never jobbed to sub-.500 fighters — is completely besides the point. “The Four Horsewomen” have become such a tired joke that even mocking people who criticize how loosely they resemble The Four Horsemen on your social media accounts is completely worn out. Since we’re all in agreement that they need a new name, let’s look to some professional wrestling stables who The Four Horsewomen have resembled far more closely. Here are six that fit the description…

UFC Fight Night 53 lineup set with four main-card bouts on UFC Fight Pass

Jim Ross on weight cutting: 'You damn sure don't want anybody dying because they cut too much weight'

"The weight that these guys pull, sometimes is very dangerous; the amount of weight and the length of time that they have to do it in. So I don't think it's just a UFC issue, I think the fighters themselves, they have to realize maybe they would be better at a heavier weight. But a lot of 'em are cutting a lot more weight because they perceive that the weight class that they can get to by cutting weight is easier to win at than a bigger weight. Whether that's true or not I don't know, but I just think that the safety of the fighters would be my first concern.
