Georges St-Pierre's coach thinks former UFC champ will return in 2015

St-Pierre, 33, is one of the greatest champions in UFC history. He held the welterweight title for six years before vacating it in December to take some time off from the sport. GSP cited personal reasons for leaving the UFC at the time, but within the last year he has been very vocal about performance-enhancing drugs and said he will not return to the UFC until it dramatically improves testing procedures.

2 Video: Champ Anthony Pettis recalls coaching UFC's new strawweights on 'TUF 20'

Ahead of tonight’s season premiere of “The Ultimate Fighter,” MMAjunkie spoke to cast members, Anthony Pettis, and Chuck Liddell about how the show could change MMA history.

Nine years after the original, TUF 20 busts down new barriers

At a screener for The Ultimate Fighter 20 in New York last week, eight of the strawweights were on hand, all of them in on a secret. They knew their short-term fates, while the media ate baked haddock and inferred what it could. A few of them, including the Scottish castmate Joanne Calderwood and Canadian fighter Randa Markos , needed to hustle so they could ring the NASDAQ bell. On the left coast, in Los Angeles, the other eight women of TUF were doing some approximation of the same thing with a different slate of gumshoe media. Last night, there was an actual Hollywood premiere of TUF 20, with red carpets, the entire field of 16, the coaches ( Anthony Pettis and Gilbert Melendez ), Ron Kruck and everything. This season, which kicks off tonight on Fox Sports 1 for the whole populace, is getting some bells and whistles. Not that that’s necessarily new, as the UFC has traditionally made a push to market its nine-year old vehicle to unearth tomorrow’s stars -- but this season has a lot going for it. For one, the stars have already been discovered, and the six-week audition process of TUF is more like a six-week "showcase" of what they can do.

Timing is also an issue. The figures Belluz uses from the Centers for Disease Control for 2011, but things can change. Back when the AIDS epidemic was just taking off some critics said too much funding was being directed to it for the relatively paltry deaths. Possibly motivated by homophobia, they ignored the fact that death rates were rising – and the donations reflected the future danger, as much as the deaths at the time.

'White guilt:' Joe Rogan blames racist UFC fans for keeping Jon Jones down

"I don't know why Jon is not more loved or popular than he is. I don't understand it. In my opinion, I will never miss a Jon Jones fucking pay-per-view. I've heard people say, 'Oh, he's cocky. He's this and [that].' I wonder what the fuck is going on with that and I'm going to throw this out there, I'm just going to say it: I wonder how much of it is racism. I really do. You know why? Because I think they look at him as this cocky black guy and I think a lot of people have an issue with that. I think that if he was a white guy and he was doing the same thing, a la a Chael Sonnen, I think he would be way more popular. Chael was never the successful athlete that Jon is, but I think Chael was way more successful as a promoter than Jon is. Jon has not been nearly as cocky or outwardly braggadocious as Chael was. I just always found it odd when everybody would get upset at him and say that they didn't like that 'he's cocky.' He's 25 and he's the UFC's light heavyweight champion. He's the youngest ever UFC champion. He destroyed Shogun [Rua] to win the title and I mean destroyed. He threw a flying knee and hit Shogun in the chin five seconds into their fight.

The left picture is clearly from my last competition in Dec. 2011' where I was already using FDX2 but (no pun intended, haha) I wasn't really training legs/butt like I should have. I was using too many damn machines for my legs and butt! I was cheating myself. I didn't have the BUTT BIBLE nor the DEADLIFT eBook during my last comp either. The second photo was taken September 9th 2012, I put back on my competition bikini and although I may look similar you can see in my competition picture my thumbs are creasing into my body hence I was very soft and

Fighter Diet -the Art of staying lean

Step 4: You will most likely feel your system's increased metabolic rate. Energy goes up, you feel warmer, you are more alert etc. With more food your thyroid will increase its hormone production. You see, dieting can momentarily cause a lowered thyroid hormone output. One great aspect of refeeds on Fighter Diet is to make the thyroid happy. It works very well! You will feel these effects the day of a refeed as well as the day after: increased heart rate, higher body temperature (sometime a fever), increased energy and happier mood.) On refeeds you increase your calories and carbs in particular. Carbs release more insulin which is very anabolic. High blood sugar, which is not maintained chronically, will get your diet miserably body into happy happy mood. "Why don't I just keep on refeeding then if carbs are so good for my metabolism?" you might ask. Well, your body will adapt and when you've filled your muscles and liver to max with carbs, there is just one more place they can go: to fat cells. Yikes! Again, cycling calories by doing regular 'lower or maintenance calories' with

Lawyer: NAC can’t stop Wanderlei Silva from fighting anywhere

"It doesn’t make it any better, but he was taking it out of competition, not licensed, trying to reduce inflammation," he said. "If you look at WADA’s prohibited list, it talks about prohibited substances out of competition and in competition. But even somebody like WADA requires those people to be licensed, or a member of the organization. So the same rule would apply here. Wanderlei should have been a licensee before the commission to try to submit him for a test.

Lightweights Jamie Varner, Drew Dober Paired for UFC on Fox 13 in Phoenix

After three straight losses, Jamie Varner is in a must-win situation. | Photo: Dave Mandel/Sherdog.com A lightweight bout between Jamie Varner and Drew Dober will take place at UFC on Fox 13 . The promotion announced the pairing on Wednesday. UFC on Fox 13 takes place at U.S. Airways Center in Phoenix on Dec. 13. No other bouts have been announced for the event, which will air on the Fox network. A Phoenix native, Varner has lost his last three appearances inside the Octagon. The Arizona Combat Sports representative last competed at UFC 173, where an ankle injury ended his night against James Krause . Varner’s last UFC victory came in December 2012, when he captured a split decision against Melvin Guillard . Dober is still looking for his first triumph within the Las Vegas-based promotion. A loss to Sean Spencer in his debut at “The Ultimate Fighter 18” finale ended a five-fight winning streak, and he was outpointed by Nick Hein in his sophomore effort at UFC Fight Night on May 31.

With something for everyone, this TUF season could be most compelling ever

Unlike any other season in the past nine years, "The Ultimate Fighter" will feature the best 16 fighters in a single weight class. This isn't a situation where the winner might be a contender in his or her respective division in a couple of years or more. No. The winner, after six weeks of hell crammed into the same house with 15 other alpha females, will be the best in the world, the women's strawweight champion. That has never happened.

'The Ultimate Fighter': Meet contestant Felice Herrig

“I get that a lot, and let’s be honest, people pay more attention to the other stuff,” she admits. “So if they pay more attention to the looks and the sex appeal, that’s all they’re really noticing and they don’t take the time to notice ‘oh, she’s actually a good fighter.’ I think people want to look at the negatives of it, and if you’re getting attention in one area, people are automatically like ‘oh, you’re cocky,’ and ‘oh, she’s good looking but she can’t fight,’ or ‘she’s not really that good looking.’ I think a lot of people look at situations more from a negative aspect than from a positive one. When people look at it from a positive point of view, they’ll look at me and be like ‘well, good for her, girl power, she’s a good role model and she’s showing that you can be a woman and you can still fight.’ And people that look at me from a positive perspective know that I can fight, but those that look at me negatively automatically just assume that I can’t fight. And they may have never even seen one of my fights.”

Jason High’s 1-Year Suspension for Shoving Ref Upheld by NMAC

Jason High’s suspension was upheld by the NMAC. | Taro Irei/Sherdog.com Jason High ’s one-year suspension for shoving a referee at UFC Fight Night "Henderson vs. Khabilov has been upheld by the New Mexico State Athletic Commission following an appeal. NMAC Chairman Tom King confirmed the ruling with Sherdog.com on Wednesday. The decision was made during an executive session that was closed to the public on Tuesday. High pushed referee Kevin Mulhall following a third-round technical knockout loss to Rafael dos Anjos on June 7 in Albuquerque, N.M. The incident occurred because High took issue with the timing of the stoppage. High was hurt by a left cross from his opponent, and a series of follow-up punches and hammerfists on the ground resulted in Mulhall halting the bout 3:36 into the final frame. Before the NMAC was able to rule on a punishment for High, the fighter was released from the UFC . . “What I did find out is that I guess that Jason High kid got up and pushed a referee. He's cut," White told UFC.

Video: Mike Tyson calls Canadian TV host 'rat piece of s--t' after past rape conviction is brought up

Downer moved in and asked whether or not Tyson's backing of Ford, whose mayoral election is October 27th, would hurt his chances of re-election -- because apparently the rest of 2014's revelations didn't really make a dent in Ford's campaign -- considering that Tyson is a convicted rapist. The mere mention of Tyson's dreaded past was enough to set him off on a rant, which you can view at the top of the page (transcription via  MMA Mania ):

Fact Check: World Series of Fighting 13

Bantamweight champion Marlon Moraes is a perfect 5-0 in the World Series of Fighting. | Dave Mandel/Sherdog.com No fighter has raised his stock more through the birth of the Las Vegas-based World Series of Fighting promotion than Marlon Moraes . The 26-year-old bantamweight champion will meet Cody Bollinger in the WSOF 13 main event on Saturday at the Sands Bethlehem Event Center in Bethlehem, Pa., and while his title will not be on the line, the stakes remain high for Moraes. The Valor Martial Arts- Ricardo Almeida Jiu-Jitsu representative finds himself on a seven-fight winning streak that has catapulted him to a world ranking at 135 pounds. Moraes last competed at WSOF 9 in March, when he cruised to a unanimous decision over Josh Rettinghouse and retained his bantamweight crown in lopsided fashion. He has won all five of his fights under the World Series of Fighting banner, shedding his prospect label with a victory over former World Extreme Cagefighting champion Miguel Torres in November 2012. An accomplished muay Thai practitioner, Moraes has secured eight of his 13 career wins by knockout, technical knockout or submission.

Let me preface this blog, and every blog that follows, by saying that there is no “one right answer” when it comes to nutrition and fitness.    There are multiple ways to achieve your ideal body.   The advice from one nutrition and fitness expert can work very well for you.   Does that mean the advice from  every  other nutrition and fitness expert is wrong?  The answer is, of course it doesn’t.   The truth is there are multiple “correct” ways to reach your ideal body and maintain it.  This blog, and the suggestions that are made within it, in no way disqualify other advice as “wrong” or “bad”.   Just as there are “many ways to skin a cat” –there are also many ways to reach your ideal body.   Finding what works for you that you can also HAPPILY MAINTAIN long term – a lifestyle change where you can enjoy your food and workout a reasonable amount – is the key.

I started negotiations with Kimbo’s management, and Bjorn went down there to close, and he met with Kimbo’s manager in Miami. It was a great meeting.
