Anthony Johnson down to fight Alistair Overeem at a catchweight

"He's still one of the top heavyweights in the world, in my opinion," Johnson added. "I don't think they're going to get rid of him. I mean, he's still going to sell tickets. People want to see him either win or lose, you know what I'm saying? It's not like when Anderson (Silva) was fighting or GSP was fighting, when Chuck (Liddell) was fighting. They wanted to see those guys dominate somebody. With him, they almost want to see him get beat up now, because of things he's done or things he's said, or whatever. (He) got caught up with some stuff that just changed people's view of him."

"Hi Pauline Nordin & Fighter Diet, I have been the hugest fan of yours for atheist two years. I never post or comment on your Facebook because I feel like you're constantly bombarded with so many people's comments and questions! It's insane! I know a million people want to talk to you and want feedback, for me it's the opposite! I merely want to tell you that to me, you're super women. I am 24 years old and spent my whole life skinny and non athletic. I have spent the past year working my butt off to add some muscle, but always got so scared when I saw the weight on the scale go up. But after reading your words everyday, following The FDX2 Diet, and weight training as heavy as humanly possible with NO CARDIO! I am finally seeing changes!! I went from 108 pounds to now being 121 pounds!

Michael Bisping: 'I ain't Jon Jones, what you see is what you get'

"I get under (Rockhold's) skin and I tell you what, I get such a kick out of it 'cause I just know his blood is boiling, and I love it. Of course it's more fun to sit here and say what's on your mind as opposed to being one of those guys that's, you know, just trying to say the right thing. You know I ain't Jon Jones, you know what I mean? What you see is what you get. No offense to Jon Jones, he's a nice guy. But people kinda say he's fake and this and that. I've always found Jon to be a very nice guy, but with me, certainly you can't accuse me of that. I certainly say what's on my mind, unfortunately."

WSOF President Ray Sefo says UFC outs not built into promotion's contracts

Exclusivity is a tough ask for promoters who want to sign and build a fighter but may not necessarily have the resources to give them a living. And from a standpoint of prestige, convincing a prospect to stay in one place when the UFC is calling is nearly impossible.

Bellator 124 results and GIFs: Emanuel Newton wins by spinning backfist KO once again

We had an onslaught of MMA and boxing this weekend, and having caught you up on the UFC, World Series of Fighting, Mayweather vs. Maidana II, we now turn to the event that kicked off the festivities. Bellator 124 in Michigan was headlined by a light heavyweight title defense by champion Emanuel Newton and challenger Joey Beltran . After Newton took the opening round, Beltran evened things up in round 2, and with Newton at a loss for successful offense, he uncorked the spinning backfist of doom to put Beltran out cold. He's done it against Muhammed Lawal , and now he's KO'd Joey Beltran.

Following spectacular win, Liam McGeary vows to take belt from Bellator champ Emanuel Newton

"I think we were just pumping each other up, you know," McGeary said. "He'd just finished his fight, I was still buzzing from my fight. And realize, me and Emanuel, we're cool. This is a job at the end of the day, and we'll go out there and put on a very good show. I want that belt and I know that he's not going to just give it over to me. It's going to be a fight, so I have to go train hard and I'm going to take it off of him."

Bellator hoping 'nice guys' can finish first

Part of the reputation he's created for himself is a function of I think he wants to be viewed as an honest broker in negotiation. I think he wants to be viewed as a guy who is trustworthy, who is not just capable of making you into a great promotional attraction and not just making you a lot of money and giving you the possibility of a strong career but on top of that someone you can trust and do business with. In that sense there's a certain integrity that underpins Scott Coker's philosophy.

Tito Ortiz on Stephan Bonnar incident: 'You don't say s--- like that'

"The only thing I knew was that we were going to get in the cage, and we were going to get into a faceoff for the fight," Ortiz said. "Do a pre-fight thing and that was it. I've seen some guy with a mask was with him, and, I don't know. It just kind of caught me off guard I was like ‘who's this guy.' Then I was like, OK, he must think I'm going to smack him or something. He's got security with him."

Bellator 127 lineup complete with Emerson-Silva and seven prelims, including Sokoudjou

In April, Emerson won for the fifth straight time and seventh time in eight fights since he was released by the UFC in 2010. His decision win over Joe Taimanglo at Bellator 116 did snap a streak of four straight submissions, though. Included in there was a heel hook tapout of Jared Downing in his promotional debut at Bellator 104.

Tito Ortiz: Bjorn Rebney 'made empty promises' as Bellator CEO

" I would not have fought," Ortiz added. "There was a contract in place, it's business, I'm not 22 years old anymore. I'm not a young kid struggling to get to the top. I've been to the top, I gotta look out for my best interests as a businessman in this fight game. At the end of the day, it is a business. I've got children to take care of, I've got bills to pay. This is my job, that fight."

Welcome to the UFC, Daniel Kelly

The 36-year old Judoka is a four time Olympian for the Australian national team, placing as high as 7th in the 2004 games. He's an eight time national judo champion in Australia (outside his Olympic credentials) and wrestled for Australia at the commonwealth games in 2002. He fights out of Resilience Training Center (of which he is the co-owner) where he also instructs fighters in Judo and MMA. He'll be entering the UFC with a 7-0 unbeaten record, unfortunately it's not a terribly meaningful one. He hasn't faced a bad level of competition. Fighters like Kym Robinson, Bor Bratovz, and Ben Kelleher, are middling regional opposition. However, it has to be said that the Australian regional scene just isn't all that well developed and it's hard to take a lot of stock in his wins. He's not fighting cans, he's undefeated, and he's finishing fights, but he's yet to face serious opposition.

Bellator 127 Main Card Finalized with Rafael Silva-Rob Emerson Bantamweight Tilt

Rafael Silva will try to start a new winning streak at Bellator 127. | Photo: Keith Mills/ A bantamweight matchup pitting Rafael Silva against Robert Emerson has joined the televised main card of Bellator 127 . Promotion officials Monday announced the addition of the bout to the company’s Oct. 3 event at Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, Calif. Brazil’s Silva had a 13-fight winning streak snapped in his last outing when he came up short in a five-round bid for Bellator’s interim bantamweight title against Joe Warren . Former UFC lightweight Emerson made his 135-pound debut in April, taking a unanimous decision against Joe Taimanglo at Bellator 116. Headlining the four-fight Bellator 127 main card is a featherweight duel between former champion Daniel Straus and ex-Strikeforce talent Justin Wilcox . Also featured on the Spike TV broadcast will be a welterweight bout featuring Marius Zaromskis and Karo Parisyan , and a middleweight feature between Christian M’Pumbu and Kendall Grove .

Marlon Moraes contemplated withdrawal from WSOF 13 headliner on weigh-in day

“On the contract, we agreed for 140, then when I got there for the weigh-in (WSOF President) Ray Sefo and (matchmaker) Ali Abdelaziz pulled me to the side,” Moraes told MMAjunkie Radio. “(They) said, ‘Hey man, he’s not making 140, man. He’s going to make 147. Please man, we need this fight. You need the fight and you want to fight. What do you want to do?’”

In an interview with BevNet , Big Red CEO Gary Smith explained that the decision was made as part of a new strategy that will see Xyience target a broader range of health-conscious consumers, like Crossfitters and marathoners. “I’m just gonna soften it up a little bit,” Smith said. “Make it a little less hardcore than the image that it’s got today.”

Miesha Tate hopes to rematch Cat Zingano next if title shot is off table

“I really feel like I have a strong fan base over there, because when I went over there last time when Bryan fought, I met a lot of cool fans that brought pictures for me to sign,” she said. “And I feel like I’ve been more in the limelight, involved with the UFC and Strikeforce. I feel like Japanese fans have been following my career, potentially longer than Rin’s, and so I feel like if I was going to fight anywhere else and fight a hometown person, I would want to do it in Japan because there’s just such an honorable culture. They’re always respectful of the opponent.

Morning Matchmaker: Stipe Miocic should be next for Andrei Arlovski

Fortunes can change ever so quickly in the UFC's heavyweight division, and Andrei Arlovski was the beneficiary of that Saturday night. "The Pitbull" came in as a big underdog only to knock out Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva in the first round and announce himself as a potential top-10 contender. That's pretty incredible in 2014 for the former UFC heavyweight champion.

The 2014 UWW World Wrestling Championships: American performance reviewed.

Any time an athletic venture falls far short of expectations fans tend to clamor for Earth-shaking reforms. In American wrestling's case, this clamoring is particularly loud, and largely misguided. Most of the calls for a top-down shakeup of the entire American wrestling program conveniently ignore the fact that the USA is a mere two years removed from a fantastic performance at the Olympics, where two American wrestlers won gold medals, and finished third in the unofficial team race. They also fail to acknowledge that Jordan Burroughs' historic string of medals still continues, and that the USA claims a wealth of future international wrestling stars in the 20-and-under (Junior) and 18-and-under (Cadet) age groups.
