UFC Fight Night: Hunt vs. Nelson - Idiot's Guide and Preview to Kyoji Horiguchi vs. Jon Delos Reyes

The reason why I and everyone else aren't giving Reyes a chance is because Kyoji is elite. Whether or not that will translate into contendership is another matter. I talked about movement, and it's something Horiguchi does well. He covers long distances by lunging with a big straight right hand at times, but unlike most fighters who lunge in for punches, he immediately retains his base, staying upright for more combinations. If there's a weakness here it's that his forward striking style leaves him susceptible to getting taken down, but sometimes he doesn't have to worry when he's landing kicks and punches on his opponent. Raw power is a wonderful trait to have at Flyweight.

Rose Namajunas talks TUF, Colorado, and Trying to Start a Fight with Royce Gracie | FIGHTLAND

The two joke together constantly, and when we stopped for a moment to admire the darkening sky over the sharp line of the mountains, Pat picked a few wildflowers for Rose to put in her hair. “Do you know I almost got into a fight with Royce Gracie at the Tracy Lee party?” Rose asked. “This is why I need to stay out of that [the nightlife], because it is not good for me. I mean, I respect the hell out of him, but I get out of hand sometimes, too.” When Royce accidentally bumped into Rose at the party, she turned around and shoved him. He backed up with his hands up and said, “Oh, hey, don’t hit me!” “He was so nice,” Rose recalled, while Pat continued, “everybody turned around and said ‘Oh shit! Do you know who that was? That was Royce Gracie!’ Her response was ‘Who the fuck is Royce Gracie?’” “I was a little intoxicated,” Rose admitted, “but I seem to remember that Tracy told me to get everybody out of the room, so I got hard.” “Thug Rose,” Pat said, reminding me of her fight name, which did seem incongruous with her very sweet demeanor outside of the cage, although Royce Gracie may disagree.

He dominated the second round.  He just ran out of gas and Esch beat him in the 3rd.  He was no more prepared than anyone else in the crowd.  But, that told me how special of a person this kid was.”

Impact: The 24-year-old also had a crucial fumble on the opening drive of the second half, with the Raiders driving into Houston territory. Although he's averaging just 7.8 yards per reception through two games, Rivera ranks third on the team in targets with 12, only behind James Jones and Denarius Moore. Rivera, who was on the field for 65 percent of the team's offensive snaps Sunday, will continue to serve as the top pass catcher at the tight end position for Oakland, but he's still well outside of the TE2 conversation in most fantasy formats. Trainer on Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s Next Fight: ‘Amir Khan is No. 1 on the List’

Amir Khan could be next for Floyd Mayweather. | Mike Sloan/Sherdog.com While the boxing world continues to sway in the shadow of Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s second consecutive defeat of Marcos Maidana, it’s already time for speculation about who “Money” will be fighting next. Mayweather has made it clear that as of now he only intends to fight twice more before retiring and focusing solely on his next endeavor of promoting fights under Mayweather Promotions. On Tuesday, trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr. gave some insight as to who he believes his undefeated son will fight the next time he enters the ring, and it’s not Manny Pacquiao. “More than likely it won’t be Pacquiao,” Mayweather Sr. told HitFirstBoxing.com. “I would say Amir Khan is No.1 on the list, but that’s still not even permanent. There’s still a few other fighters out there. I can’t say who’s permanent unless they ask for it.” Amir Khan might not be the strongest opponent on the table for Mayweather, but he does have a large contingent of fans in the United Kingdom, as well as in India and Pakistan.

Legendary announcer Jim Ross prepares for his MMA broadcast debut

In fact, the first time I heard it was many years back, from of all people, UFC's lead voice, Mike Goldberg. Goldberg had met Ross at an event and when Ross talked about enjoying Goldberg's work, Goldberg mentioned what an honor it was to get a compliment from a broadcasting legend.  Ross has made it no secret for the past several years, that he'd like to call mixed martial arts. Before what turned out to be his final contract with World Wrestling Entertainment, Ross even had talks with officials at HDNet (now AXS) about doing some of their shows, but he ended up staying with WWE, before departing from the company a year ago this week. On Oct. 3, the BattleGrounds MMA promotion is running a pay-per-view event from Tulsa, Okla. And perhaps, for the first time in MMA history, the most noteworthy item about a pay-per-view event  are the broadcasters, Ross, and controversial sidekick Chael Sonnen. "The folks at BattleGrounds are Oklahoma-based guys," said Ross, who in some circles is almost synonymous with his home state, in an appearance on Monday's MMA Hour. "They contacted me and asked if I had an interest.

Bellator 125 Headliner Melvin Manhoef: Doug Marshall’s Best Chance is a ‘Lucky Punch’

Melvin Manhoef wants Bellator gold. | Taro Irei/Sherdog.com Melvin Manhoef has a highlight reel full of spectacular knockout victories. Over the course of a professional career that began in 1995, the fighter known as “No Mercy” has finished the likes of Evangelista Santos (twice), Kazushi Sakuraba , Mark Hunt , Kazuo Misaki and Denis Kang , to name a few. Despite such credentials, the 38-year-old Dutchman sometimes looks back and thinks he could have done better. His loss to Robbie Lawler at Strikeforce “Miami” , in particular, stands out as a burning reminder of what might have been. In that bout, which took place more than four years ago, Manhoef had his opponent reeling with a brutal diet of leg kicks. Despite the one-sided nature of the affair, it only took one blow to alter the bout, as Lawler put Manhoef out with a single, powerful overhand right. It was Lawler’s only real significant offense of the fight, but it was more than enough. “Every loss has been very hard for me, but there were moments that I thought I could really win fights and didn't.

Melvin Manhoef talks Doug Marshall, getting tricked into fighting Mark Hunt

“His best chance is to get in on a lucky punch because I think my striking is a little bit better, because I’ve been doing striking for almost 20 years,” Manhoef said of Marshall, a Bellator Season 8 tournament winner. “I don’t know how long Doug Marshall has been doing it, but he has big KO power, and I don’t want to get that from him. I think my punches are quicker and more technical though. That’s just what I think.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. Plans on Making Major Changes to Management Team Before May

Floyd Mayweather could be making some changes to his team. | Mike Sloan/Sherdog.com There are some internal problems brewing with Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s “Money Team,” namely his prime business partner at Mayweather Promotions , Leonard Ellerbe. The undefeated boxer expounded on the issues in a recent article from FightHype.com , describing the rift as simply growing pains. “I think we're just getting to a point where we're outgrowing each other. I think I just see things my way, and I think he sees things in another way. For example, this time around when I went out and fought, my WBC and WBA titles in both weight classes were on the line and I didn't approve of that at all. That's something I didn't approve of. Also, my daughter was sitting in the front row and her mother wasn't sitting next to her, so the ticket arrangements were totally wrong,” Mayweather said. “It just got to a point to where everyone wants to do what they want to do instead of communicating and compromising like we used to. We got to this point by us communicating and compromising.

Report: Nick Diaz's gets court date for last year's DUI

As Fox Sports initially reported , Diaz was arrested late last year for driving while intoxicated. he then failed to appear for multiple court dates. If he misses his next one, reports are that a warrant may be issued for his arrest. Obviously, with charges of obstruction of an officer, tampering with evidence, and an additional DUI still looming over him, anything less than perfect behavior on Diaz's part could put his fight with Anderson Silva , early next year, in serious jeopardy. Stay tuned to Bloody Elbow, as we'll be sure to provide any news, notes, and updates as they become available.

7 months muscle gain

3. It's hard for me to find a middle way, I built up a lot of muscles, then I had a phase where I stripped it all off to be skinny lean. I did that by doing 3 hours of cardio every day plus weight training and reduced my protein intake in half. It took me 9 months. What happened when I was my lightest weight as an adult (112 lbs at 5'2) was my abs were always looking fat. I thought by decreasing my weight I would be ripped every day. LOL oh boy was I wrong. Instead it was harder than ever to keep my body lean around the midsection. My body was pissed and wanted to gain muscle and weight overall. So I did

Ratings report: Nearly three million watch debut episode of TUF 20

In various incarnations over the past week, nearly three million viewers watched the first episode of The Ultimate Fighter reality show. The key to the number was FOX putting an encore version of the show, which is built around a tournament to crown the first UFC women's strawweight champion (115 pounds). While it didn't air in every market, where it did air was either before or after FOX's Sunday NFL broadcasts. The show delivered 1,735,000 viewers in that time slot. The actual debut on FS 1 on Sept. 10, did 536,000 viewers live, which was the lowest debut in the show's history. But the first episode alone had another 295,000 viewers watching via DVR through Saturday night. Other airings of the show between Thursday and Sunday, on either FS 1 or FS 2, added another 267,000 viewers. All of those figures add up to 2,833,000 total viewers, and that doesn't include any DVR viewership of anything but the originally aired episode. A key is if the huge viewership on Sunday creates new viewers to watch episode two on Wednesday night, featuring No. 2 seed Joanne Calderwood of Team Pettis against No.
