UFC Boss Dana White Says Talk of Nate Diaz-Conor McGregor 3 at UFC 219 ‘Not True At All’

If you already booked a flight to Las Vegas to the New Year's holiday, Ultimate Fighting Championship boss Dana White comes bearing bad news. On Sunday, Irish tabloid The Sunday World reported that UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor was all-but-official to face archrival Nate Diaz at UFC 219 , scheduled for Dec. 30 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The report was quickly picked up by several publications in Ireland and the United Kingdom, but according to the UFC President White, the Diaz-McGregor rubber match is anything but official. “Not true AT ALL,” White responded on Sunday evening when asked by fans on Twitter if Diaz-McGregor 3 was a done deal. Not true AT ALL — Dana White (@danawhite) September 24, 2017 According to the initial Sunday World report, McGregor had informed those close to him of the bout's imminency and his inner circle had already began booking flights and hotels for the late December date. While McGregor's star power and visibility grew in 2017 courtesy of his “Money Fight” boxing match with Floyd Mayweather in August, which he lost via tenth-round TKO stoppage, it was his two-fight rivalry with Diaz last year that led the UFC to a massive pay-per-view windfall.

Paige VanZant vs. Jessica Eye Scrapped from UFC 216 |

It’s unfortunate timing for everybody involved considering this was VanZant’s first fight back as a flyweight following her loss to Michelle Waterson last December. It’s even more disappointing for Eye, who has now been forced to the sidelines for her past two scheduled bouts after Aspen Ladd had to drop out of their fight back in July when she fell ill just hours ahead of the event.

Rory MacDonald Eyes Titles in Three Bellator Divisions |

Just a week ago, Bellator announced that recent UFC transplant Rory MacDonald would challenge Douglas Lima for the welterweight title early next year. A win would not only help MacDonald achieve something he was never able to in the UFC, but serve as the first step the journey he sees in his mind’s eye. It’s a quest for not just one gold belt, not even two, but three Bellator titles.

5 Things You Might Not Know About ‘Kimbo Slice’

Kevin Ferguson carved out a niche all his own in mixed martial arts. You know him as “Kimbo Slice.” His career born out of a series of high-traffic YouTube videos that featured his unsanctioned bareknuckle brawls in Miami boatyards, Ferguson fought eight times -- 10 if you count exhibition bouts against Ray Mercer and Roy Nelson -- in MMA, appeared on Season 10 of “The Ultimate Fighter” reality series and exposed a whole new audience to the sport. He threw out his anchor at American Top Team , endearing himself to former World Extreme Cagefighting champion turned trainer Mike Thomas Brown . The Bahamian-born heavyweight died in June 2016 at the age 42, leaving behind a legacy that was hard to quantify but no less compelling. Ferguson compiled a 5-2 record with one no-contest, his wins over Bo Cantrell , David Abbott , James Thompson , Houston Alexander and Ken Shamrock offset by losses to Seth Petruzelli and Matt Mitrione . Here are five things you might not know about “Kimbo Slice,” a larger-than-life character who was nothing if not remarkable: 1.

Ward, meanwhile, has lost three of his last four fights, including a third-round submission defeat against Fernando Gonzalez at Bellator 182 on Aug. 25. Floyd Mayweather Unveils Extensive ‘Money Fight’ Art Work in Beverly Hills Home

Floyd Mayweather recently got some artwork to commemorate his final boxing match — and opponent Conor McGregor is featured prominently in the piece. Late Monday night, “Money” took to Twitter to show off a mural of both he and McGregor in his Beverly Hills, Calif., home. Mayweather refers to the piece, which features giant images of the fighters on opposite sides of a doorway, as “exclusive timeless artwork.” Exclusive timeless artwork in my Beverly Hills home#BeverlyHills #90210#TBE#TMT — Floyd Mayweather (@FloydMayweather) September 26, 2017 Mayweather defeated McGregor via 10th round technical knockout in their Aug. 26 bout at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas to improve his professional mark to 50-0. McGregor, the UFC lightweight champion who was competing in his first boxing match, received praise for a performance in which many had him winning several early rounds before fading down the stretch. After the victory, Mayweather claimed that the fight was indeed his last, although he initially retired following a decision win over Andre Berto in 2015.

Sherdog’s Official Mixed Martial Arts Rankings - Joanna, Who and Everybody Else?

After Mauricio “Shogun” Rua fell out of the headliner a week out from the event, UFC Fight Night 117 from Saitama, Japan, was not likely to be remembered fondly. However, it did break one crystallized notion about MMA's hierarchy: The women's strawweight division is not “ Joanna Jedrzejczyk , Claudia Gadelha and everybody else.” If anything, it is now “Joanna Jedrzejczyk, Jessica Andrade and everybody else.” While Ovince St. Preux made the most of his main event against late replacement Yushin Okami -- he won with his record-setting third shoulder choke in the Ultimate Fighting Championship and second this year alone -- beating a faded middleweight like Okami is not enough for “OSP” to rejoin our top-10 mix at 205 pounds. Rather, it was UFC Fight Night 117 co-headliner Andrade making moves, as she overcame a hot start from Gadelha to dominate the final two rounds, turning her fellow Brazilian into a bloody mess. As it pertains to these rankings, Andrade's gruesome treatment of Gadelha sees her vault “Claudinha” in the 115-pound ranks, jumping from fifth to No.

Joe Duffy-James Vick Lightweight Bout Added to Nov. 4 UFC 217 Card at Madison Square Garden

Another two notable Ultimate Fighting Championship lightweights are getting the Madison Square Garden treatment. UFC 217 , set for Nov. 4 at MSG in New York City, will feature a 155-pound contest between American James Vick and Irishman Joseph Duffy . The UFC confirmed and announced the lightweight contest on Monday. The 29-year-old Duffy may still be best known for the fact that he submitted UFC lightweight kingpin and MMA superstar Conor McGregor in November 2010, but “Irish Joe” has put together a 4-1 mark in his UFC tenure, most recently topping Reza Madadi via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 107 back in March. The Donegal native also holds Octagon wins over Jake Lindsey , Ivan Jorge and Mitch Clarke , his lone loss in his UFC run coming via decision to Dustin Poirier in January 2016. Since his stint on “The Ultimate Fighter 15,” Vick has gone 7-1 under UFC employ, with his sole defeat coming to top-10 lightweight Beneil Dariush via first-round knockout in June 2016. “The Texecutioner” has since rebounded, taking back-to-back stoppage wins over Abel Trujillo via submission, then knocking out Marco Polo Reyes in less than three minutes this past May.

‘Wicky Akiyo’ Returns, Faces K-1 Max Star Andy Souwer on Oct. 15 Rizin Grand Prix Card

If the bracket action of two tournaments doesn't get you excited, Rizin Fighting Federation is still trying to keep you happy. The Japanese promotion has announced an additional bout for its Oct. 15 bill at Marine Messe Fukuoka in Fukuoka, Japan: in a 154-pound contest, K-1 Max and Shoot Boxing star Andy Souwer will have his fifth MMA rules bout, taking on returning cult favorite “Wicky” Akiyo Nishiura . The Oct. 15 card is otherwise built around Rizin's continuing bantamweight grand prix, as well as the kickoff of its 108-pound women's atomweight tournament. Souwer, 34, is not just a four-time Shoot Boxing S-Cup World Champion, but also a two-time K-1 Max World Grand Prix champion, in addition to his two runner-up finishes in the K-1 Max GP. One of the most achieved and celebrated Dutch kickfighters in history, Souwer has began an MMA career while continuing to compete in the standup realm. Last December, he was armbarred by Kazuyuki Miyata in his third MMA bout, but returned this past May -- his first MMA bout not under the Rizin banner -- and tapped out Massaro Glunder in the third round.
