Rua, who is 6-7 in his UFC tenure with four stoppage losses, also mentioned that his wife was another member of his family that wanted him to retire from fighting. Yet even the combination of his wife and mother was not enough to convince ‘Shogun' that it may be time to hang up the gloves.

In a recent interview with Bloody Elbow, "Rumble" gave some insight of what it was like having Overeem as a teammate, and detailed an incident that left the two at permanent odds with one another. Is Fluoride Poisonous?
Hey guys! After watching a webinar on how essentially every drop of water in the entire world has already been contaminated whether physically or emotionally was terrifying until I came across the most amazing solution that has changed my life: it's called Adya Clarity Black Mica. It is a mineral solution that ionizes the water and more importantly, STRUCTURES it into a sacred geometric form. Basically, by adding a few droplets into your glass, it will neutralize all of the pollutants. All of the heavy chemicals like aluminum would become insoluble and sink to the bottom where you can scoop it out and the gaseous elements like fluoride and chloride will evaporate. I usually treat a gallon first with a teaspoon of it and then I write loving words on it. After, I put it through the water filtration system that has a ceramic filter as well as an additional 4 layered mineral filter that also came with the package. Let me tell you when I say it's the most pristine water I have ever tasted, I mean it. All of my friends and family refuse to drink water from another source. Anyone can have "bottled water" from home.

Anderson Silva seeing psychologist to get over 'ghosts' of broken leg
"I’m over this thing of being champion, having the title," Silva said. "The truth is, there will only be one Ayrton Senna, there will only be one Pele, and there will only be one Anderson Silva, so whoever saw me (as champion), saw me. Who haven’t seen me (as champion), won’t see it. In a way you’ll see me (fight again), but not for the belt, that thing of being champion again. I don’t have patience for this. I think I’m closer to retirement every day."

After charges dropped, UFC's Thiago Silva has a video message for fans
Silva’s most recent legal issues began with a Feb. 6 incident at the Pablo Popovitch Mixed Martial Arts Academy in Oakland Park, Fla., where Silva’s wife trained. Police said the 31-year-old Brazilian drove to the school and threatened his wife and Popovich with a gun before fleeing to his home, which led to a four-hour standoff with a S.W.A.T. team. He eventually came out of his home and was Tasered before being taken into custody.

The 'Barbarian' in winter
These days Silveira’s fighters find, if not a kinder and gentler barbarian at the helm, then at least a more empathetic one. His experiences made him less judgmental, Silveira said, more understanding. He might still be as physically imposing as ever, but even when he’s showing his fighters his own Brazilian brand of tough love, there’s a tenderness about it. Without that experience, and that time in jail, he said, he might not have ended up here, as the gruff but loving coach with the steely, translucent stare.
UFC wins ratings battle on Friday night, but Bellator comes close in head-to-head period
Bellator's season opener, with a loaded lineup, averaged 667,000 viewers between 8 p.m. to 10:45 p.m., for a show headlined by Patricio "Pitbull" Freire's featherweight title win over Pat Curran , plus wins by Kong Mo Lawal, Cheick Kongo and TNA pro wrestling champion Bobby Lashley . That number is almost identical to what Bellator averages on Fridays. What appeared to happen is the added star power of the show was offset by the UFC competition, and perhaps hurt a little by the unfamiliar one hour earlier starting time. Segment ratings were unavailable at press time. The UFC prelims, airing from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., did 485,000 viewers. It does appear Bellator could have affected that number negatively, but another factor is it aired 4-7 p.m. on the West Coast, which would hurt a lot more on a Friday than that time slot would be hurt on a Saturday. The MMA shows also had cable competition from WWE's Friday Night Smackdown show from 8-10 p.m., which did 2,758,000 viewers. What this showed is that even with two MMA events going on, the WWE show drew right at its average, although WWE did load the show up by putting on top star John Cena.

Beyond the Octagon: Mixed results for UFC vets Jeff Monson and Motonobu Tezuka
Finally, at M-1 Challenge 51, Vyacheslav Vasilevsky (25-2, 1-1 Bellator) took on champion Ramazan Emeev (11-3-0) for the middleweight title. Both fighters displayed potent offense, brutalizing each other at range, in the clinch, and on the ground. By the fourth round, Emeev's left eye was badly swollen, Vasilevsky was cut and bleeding from his nose, and both had had their jaws severely tested. In the closing seconds of the round, however, Vasilevsky took over, backing Emeev into a corner and where he unloaded with a barrage of hooks and uppercuts that left the referee with no choice but to step in and rescue the incumbent champion. Vasilevksy is now 8-0 since his last, losing effort in Bellator, with seven of those wins coming within the distance. Emeev, meanwhile, suffers defeat for the first time in four years and sees his own win streak halted at eight.

Eduardo Dantas vs. Joe Warren title-unification bout headlines Bellator 128
Dantas, who’s ranked No. 6 in the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA bantamweight rankings , was supposed to put his perfect Bellator record on the line and fight Warren, a tournament winner, in March. However, a knee injury sidelined him. Warren instead then fought, and earned a decision win over, Rafael Silva for the interim title. He’s now 4-0 since losing his featherweight title in 2012.
Ray Rice's release from Ravens and UFC's rehiring of Thiago Silva pages from two very different playbooks

Henry Cejudo on bad weight cut at UFC 177: ‘I’m very disappointed in myself’
Henry Cejudo is one of the very few competitors in MMA who has won Olympic gold, which made him a prospect to watch as he got set for his UFC debut a couple of weeks ago at UFC 177 . Cejudo -- who won gold at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing in the 121-pound class -- never made it to the scale for his fight with Scott Jorgensen , though. Cejudo fell ill during his weight cut just hours before the weigh-ins in Sacramento. Exactly what happened wasn’t known at the time, but what as known was that this fit a pattern in Cejudo’s brief MMA career. It marked the fourth time since turning pro in 2013 that he’d had trouble making weight. What went wrong? Cejudo appeared on Monday’s edition of The MMA Hour and spoke about the episode that made him a last-minute casualty for UFC 177. "Everything was good, I had gotten down to 130 the night before the weigh-ins, and I was only four pounds away from my goal," he told Ariel Helwani. "And that night I just had severe cramping. I couldn’t sleep. Every 10 minutes or so I had cramping going on in my back, in my thigh, in my foot, just pretty much every part of my body.
Michael Chiesa: I would give that $50,000 back just to be able to go the rest of the fight
“The lightweight title is on the line Dec. 6,” Chiesa said. “I think me and Joe fighting Dec. 6 on the same card on the main card in Vegas, I think that would be a good scrap. It wouldn’t matter if I won or lost. I would give the $50,000 back just to be able to finish the fight. I don’t care about the money. I feel like that fight could have been a ‘Fight of the Year’ candidate. I feel like it had the makings of something real special, and I really want a rematch just so we can see how it turns out.
Stephan Bonnar on drug-test fallout: 'The closest to offing myself I've ever been'
"I haven't been in the gym," Bonnar said. "I'm weak, I'm skinny, I got some stem cell procedures done on my knee, I took a lot of time off. I'm like, crap. I'm really injury prone. So it was like, you know what, I have a month before I have to go train. So yeah, I'm not worried about getting tested any more. I'm going to do a cycle of steroids. My goal, to get big and strong. I'm going to eat a lot, lift heavy weights, get big and strong. Don't have to worry about my cardio, don't have to worry about making weight, don't have to worry about getting drug tested. So that's what I did. I never thought I had to fight again."
Tito Ortiz, Stephen Bonnar, and the Bellator Brawl that highlighted MMA's identity crisis
If pro wrestling decided to dabble in a real mixed martial arts prizefight, I, the casual sports fan with no interest in pro wrestling might tune in to watch John Cena fight a real fight with say, Triple H or whoever. But would I suddenly start to watch pro wrestling? Of course not. Because pro wrestling itself isn't what caught my attention. A diversion within pro wrestling caught my attention. Why do MMA observers think diversions within the sport will attract fans with what the sport is not? It's like trying to say that this crude New Jack stunt is a measurement of value within pro wrestling.
Anderson Silva seeing psychologist to deal with gruesome leg injury, believes he is ‘closer to retirement every day’
Silva snapped his tibia and fibula during his rematch against Chris Weidman last December and has since been sidelined with the sole intention of working his way back from the debilitating injury. While he successfully overcame the physical damage done to his leg, he still required the services of a psychologist to handle the "ghosts" of those final moments in the fight.

'On my father's grave,' Scott Coker didn't expect Tito Ortiz-Stephan Bonnar brawl
“To me, it’s like when Chael Sonnen does his wrestling bits. It’s very, ‘Now they’re going into the WWE business.’ It’s just how some of these guys choose to express themselves. I think Stephan had his script ready, but I don’t think Tito had his script ready because having Justin there threw him off. But at the end of the day, that’s something that happened one time. … But I’ll tell you this: The fight that’s going to happen in the cage on Nov. 15 is going to be real. All that stuff’s going to be put to the side, and they’re going to be locked in the cage, and they’re going to have to fight. But we are not going into the pro wrestling business. We’re not part of the TNA landscape, and we’re not part of Spike’s plan. It’s something that took us all by surprise.”

Alistair Overeem in decent spirits following KO loss: ‘I made a mistake’
Alistair Overeem has been on the brunt end of criticism following his first-round knockout loss to Ben Rothwell this past Friday at UFC Fight Night 50, but the UFC heavyweight remains in relatively good spirits.
Former WCW/WWF star Lance Storm on Ray Rice: 'Dana would probably sign him'
There have been a lot of critics of the UFC's decision to bring back Thiago Silva , after assault charges against him, stemming from an alleged attack on his ex-wife and a SWAT team standoff, were dropped. For an industry still reeling from the domestic violence cases of John Koppenhaver and Josh Grispi , many pundits and fans saw the UFC's "He went through the legal process and came out of it untainted" stance as tone deaf to a culture that is viewing pro sports as more and more complicit with violent offenders. That certainly seems to be the stance former WWF and WCW champion Lance Storm is taking when he prodded the UFC on Twitter.

Matt Brown: "I'm not scared to fight anybody"
"What happened actually, Dana called me and asked me how my hand was doing and I said I've got to go back to the doctor and get it checked and everything. He said call me as soon as you get out of the doctor. So I called him right as soon as I got out of the doctor and he kind of threw me off guard a little bit saying 'you want to fight Hector Lombard?' and I was like 'okay, why not'. I called my manager and was like 'I'm going to be fighting Hector' and he was like 'no, when is your hand cleared?' and I said 'four weeks' and he was like 'the fight's only eight weeks away!'. I didn't do the math or anything. I told my wife and she started screaming at me," Brown revealed when speaking to FOX Sports.
